not worth much... no official word anywhere... tsn, rds, tfp, nhl, habs website, sportsnet, the score, gazette, la presse, etc. etc... let's wait for these guys to break something

It wasn't a rumour since it was on the Canadiens website. Habs website often does that (prepare press release template). They did it for the Huet press release Monday. What HW said was
Quote:
"On Wednesday morning, the Montreal Canadiens will publish a press release about Andrei Kostitsyn. It is highly expected that GM Bob Gainey will announce the signing of the Russian RW to an entry level, 3 year contract."
Where they were wrong is that Habs didn't publish the famous press release they had a template for. They didn't talked about a conference or that it was about Kost' signing.
WHy do you think Habs removed the template? THey surely were wondering why a hidden page was the most visited today lol

IMO they told the webmaster to prepare an article but obviously he didn't published it. 2 reasons:
1- Like someone else posted, they wanted to give more exposure to the Zednik signing
2- There is a problem with signing Kost.. maybe because of the Russian federation..

anyways, we'll surely know pretty soon

Go Habs Go

that's just poor writing...

what it means is the Habs are trying to sign him to a 3-year entry level contract and are hopeful to have an announcement (which means, hoping to sign him) soon

nothing done yet

Actually it's more like "we have reason to believe Kostitsyn has been signed, but the Habs have yet to officially announce it... so we expect an annoucement soon".

The coming days will tell the story.

I think we did sign him but there were some other complications thats why t isn't official yet. I've seen proof of a possble signing on 3 sites now. (habsworld, canadians.com and spectors hockey) On spectorshockey, they say its a done deal.

I hope we did sign him

That news is all crap. Spectors took the signing news for fact from an expectation on habsworld. HabsWorld took the signing expectation from a Press Release template on canadiens.com.

Canadiens.com were preparing a press release.. why didn't they posted it yet and put the template offline ? That's the question

It is probably more newsworthy that he isn't signed to this point than that he may be soon. Most of the first rounders from 2003 are already under contract and a few of them have already played in the NHL.

Maybe CSKA is asking for too much money to release him. Maybe they just want to get back at the NHL for the Zerdev situation last season...

You'll note that Spector has removed the statement. I suspect he saw that it had been removed from canadiens.com.

No way did Habsworld post a story based on a template on the habs site. At least I seriously hope not.

As for Canadiens.com, a template does not necessarily mean a press release is coming right away. They probably took it down once they noticed it was getting hundreds of hits, wanting to quell the rumours.
