I've watched some really bad Lions teams in my lifetime, but this has got to be the worst. Absolutely horrific pass defense, incompetent coaching, and Lulay is reminding me more of Andre Ware with every game he plays.
I love how teams keep doing stupid things to give us a chance to come back, and we keep pissing it away.
Lulay had a pretty rough outing, one that can't really be blamed no our receivers this time. Mind you, he still threw for 250 and a TD, so you can't really be too upset I guess even though his progress this far in the season has been backwards. The real problem is clearly in the defence, someone has to step up and take pride in their coverage and their tackles.
Missed most of the game tonight, but sounds like more of the same. It'll be interesting how the media continues to try to spin how good Lulay is this week.
The radio guys are idiots, too. It took them about halfway through the next drive to realize that being down by 8 with the ball is better than being down by 1 without it with no time. 10 year old kids who've grown up playing Madden know this. Then, they spout out "well what is Colbourne supposed to do.. fall down untouched at the 1?" Uh ya, that is what he's supposed to, ask Brian Westbrook or MJD.
Ah, whatever. I want to drag myself out to a few games this year but I can't even bother at this point.
somebody needs to be fired, way to many mistakes from not only the players but the coaching staff
Second that. (watching the game now) Their offensive coordinator doesn't know what he's doing. The players are giving up on tackles, aren't trying on pass attempts, just horrible stuff across the board.
This is not a good football team. It is not just a few mistakes here and there but the fact this team has some gaping holes on offense and defense
The receivers are inexperienced and often feeling their way. Loss of Arceneaux is huge and Paris Jackson has lost much of his speed. Gore looks like a having a good future but is very green.
Offense line is better but still very thin. Valli remains a project.
Lulay is going thru some growing pains. Other teams are taking away his running plays and forcing him to pass. Play is often erratic - especially some of his passes.
Defensive line had a better game once they got Johnson out of there. And it is interesting to note that the only big drive the Tiger Cats had in the second half was during the only series when they put Johnson back in and the team got no pressure on the QB. Johnson is truly awful and should be out of here. Tremendous weakness on the defense which is throughly exploited every game
Like to see Hodgson given a chance. He couldn't be worst than Johnson.
Mackenzie is too slow and missing tackles. Need to give Bighill a look here - especially if you are looking at the re-built this team absolutely needs.
Defensive back field is in tatters. Williams is terrible, Sanchez out of position and no one can tackle anyone. Right now just plugging in the usual fringe players that get passed around the League.
Score again flattered the Lions. In truth, they are a bad team in need of a lot of personal changes. If they continue like this they need to clean house in terms of recruitment, coaching and players.
At this point I'm not sure why they bother to keep Paris Jackson on the roster. He's clearly lost more than a step and is only being used sparingly, losing plays to stiffs like Collins. Brown was invisible again on returns. More dropped passes, missed assignments, receivers overthrown. This is a team not playing with any direction right now.
One positive this week was they finally started trusting Robertson to touch the damn football. Too bad they were down big and couldn't give him the consistent touches he needs to be effective. I still don't understand why Jamall Lee is being buried on special teams. He's a far more functional offensive player than Lumbala.
Secondary needs to be torn apart, cutting Hyland was shuffling deck chairs on the titanic, there continues to be much bigger problems with that unit than his play. Davis Sanchez is finished. Phillips and Marsh are the only competent players in the secondary at this point and neither of them have wow'ed anyone this year. Getting lit up for 300+ yards by Kevin Glenn, definitely a lower-half QB in this league, isn't acceptable.
