Buffalo Cap Dump

Are they a realistic trading partner for our needs?

What do you guys think of Brad Boyes and Marc-Andre Gragnani?

Boyes was a 40 goal scorer with ANDY MCDONALD! and is a Mississauga native. Also Gragnani looked like a top four dman in the playoffs.

Sabres fans are denying that they have to dump salary. They're saying they have players who can be demoted to the AHL,taking their team below the cap ceiling.

This is what I hate. Fans saying let's dump everyone in the AHL. The new CBA should establish a rule that only 2 players per with 2 mil salaries or more should be dumped in the AHL, not 4 players with 4 mil + cap hits that suck.

I thought the CBA, only allowed a team to dump 1 vet in the AHL at a time.

Anyway,as far as the Sabres are concerned, maybe it's a vet and a rookie with bonuses?Either way,Sabres fans don't think they'll have to dump key players.

The rushing around, hoping to take over advantage of the Sabres, reminds me of opposing fans getting themselves all worked up over the NYI reaching the cap floor every season

Send a message via AIM to Koobs11
I would Take Boyes and MAG, The deal would have to send either Comeau,Hunter or one of our wingers along back with a pick and prospect, both are promising players, would definatly help our lineup and give the right side more punch, I doubt they would take PAP but I would love to send him there wishfull thinking

Gragnani is a larger MAB. He sucks handling the puck or getting out of his end.
In the offensive zone he has some ability. I watched all of the Sabres/F'ers playoff and Gragnani handled the puck like a hand grenade.

This requires a rule for protecting the GMs from themselvs and including a rule that will punish a GM for their mistakes.

I doubt its gonna happen.

Also, Buffalo is over the cap now. You can be 10% over the cap during the off-season.

They have to be under the cap the day the season starts.

You sure about that?

They have some good d-man, and with their offseason additions we should try and swoop in for one.

Buffalo will send Kotalik ($3mil) and Morrissonn ($2mil) to the AHL, or they will be traded. We've gone over the calculations countless times over on the Sabres' board, and cap space will not be an issue for us come opening night.

As far as Brad Boyes...someone from our board suggested this:

To NYI: Brad Boyes
To BUF: Josh Bailey

I don't know how much the Isles value Bailey, but the general consensus around the boards seems to be that he was rushed into the NHL and has hit a road block in his development. I haven't watched him play that much so I couldn't tell you what my opinion of him is, but does this trade seem like fair value? Maybe a change of scenery for Bailey would help him out, where he would center our third line and wouldn't be forced to do as much.

If I couldn't sign Hannan, I'd take a shot at grabbing Morrisonn off waivers if Buffalo tries to send him down, and solidify the top six.

Boyes has been pretty bad for the last 2 years or so. Comeau is better.

He actually played pretty good for Sabres ... until injuries forced him to play Center.... thats where he fell off the map..... A lot of Sabre fans are against giving him up .... I'm kind of neutral ... Depending on what was coming back... I kind of like having Boyes on a 2nd or 3rd line .... I like the scoring depth that gives us....

But anything Sabres do... i believe ... will be a real hockey deal ... not any Salary dumps ..... unless it's just Kotalik or Morrison for picks .. that would be ideal.... but if it can't happen.. they will just be sent packing to Rochester.

Andy McDonald was really good back then....

At any rate, I wouldn't give up much more than a 2nd rounder for the guy, pref. in '13.

I love Boyes... Id love to get him.

People ahte on me for pushign aBailey trade, but we need a good defenseman and Bailey would have to go and I have no "homegrown connection" to him anymore. You usually have that. Like with the Mets.. Betlran is easier to get riod of than Wright cause Wright's always been there. bailey doesnt have that anymore... liek Okposo does lol, get rid of him sell high Garth.

Boyes would be great as our 3rd line C or maybe even 1st line RW... either.

You don't want him for your Center.

HUH? MAG is a beast as an offensive d man. He completes pass' that a lot of veterans wouldn't even attempt. Lead the sabres in points in the playoffs after only playing in 9 regular season games. He was AHL defense man of the year.

Only Islander i'm interested in is Bailey. Boyes+pick/mid level prospect but not an NHL'er(MAG).

Brad Boyes would look more than fine on Tavares' right side. He would have been second on the Isles in scoring last season, so I'm not sure why all the fuss about him falling off.

One of us has our 2010-2011 stats on Boyes totally screwed up.

29 yr old Boyes had 12 goals,29 assists.He'll make $4m next season.
21 yr old Bailey had 12 goals,I think 17 assists.He'll likely make $800,000-$1m.

Boyes' last big seasonwas what,3 yrs ago?

If Bailey is moved, imo it'll most likely be as part of a package to add a quality, top 4
defenseman.Not a struggling,highly paid winger.
