Good. I'm OK with him riding the pine if two rookies prove they're ready, but otherwise, I think he'll be able to serve as an adequate 7th defenseman.

But I thought we were trading Callahan for Ballard, darn!!!

Great deal though, nice veteran presence.

In all fairness, towards the end of the season and into the playoffs Gilroy was playing better and McCabe was the guy who we bought in to help the PP. Hopefully we see the same thing we saw last year with Eminger/Sauer, with Eminger/Valentenko. Erixon is the 5 and MDZ starts the season with the Whale.

Hated him at the beginning of the year, but he really grew into the 5-7th dman role.

Good to have him back, sign Cally and the roster is basically formed.

Decent option for a 7th dman. No complaints from me.

great signing when you consider the cost

i imagine he will battle for the 6th spot with some of the young guys

but even if he's kept as a 7th, when someone gets hurt i have enough confidence in him to be inserted into the line up and be pretty servicable

Assuming Wolski doesn't get bought out, this means we'll most likely be going with a 22 man roster. We currently have 14 forwards (with Cally) and 5 dmen. If 2 of Erixon, MDZ and Vtank make it, then one of the forwards will have to go, either via trade or demotion to Hartford.

Good signing. I like Eminger, his only problem is he tries to do too much at times. If he just keeps it simple like he showed in his best of games he will be real solid.

Very well done by the Rangers. I'm a little surprised that Eminger didn't get an extra-year for taking paycut.

He is probably going to start the season as # 6 - 7 and finish as # 7. At least two out of Del Zotto, Erixon, Valentenko & Kundratek should be ahead of him by then.

Nice. I was mostly impressed with Eminger last season, and happy to bring him back as a 6/7 Dman.

Awards:
I think he did a very good job for us last year. For $800k, it's a no-brainer.

To me, Gilroy was given a final chance to prove he deserved a roster spot. (He failed)

McCabe was brought in to fix the PP and is no worse than Eminger with offensive upside (that never emerged).

Eminger beat them both out which is why he's back...

Solid deal.

In an ideal world he doesn't play too many games as that would mean that the young D-corps has stepped up.

Pleasantly surprised. I had him taking a pay cut, but closer to 1/3 than 1/2. Good deal. Happy he's back and expect to see him in the lineup for ~50-55 games.

PERFECT.

I'm glad he's back as the 5th/6th/7th defenseman.

I liked his game all last season. He was a little sketchy to start, but he wasn't as bad as everyone said. I hope he continues his serviceable game as a bottom pair defenseman.

Not bad at all for a 6/7 guy. In a perfect world, would've liked to have acquired a legitimate 3rd pairing guy with some experience, but one wouldnt have materialized at this price.

Still huge question marks on that 3rd pair.

Guy obviously wanted to play here. He could have had that salary or better just about anywhere. Get the feeling our players liked the off season moves by Sather, as well as Tort's leadership. Good sign!

I like the signing as long as we have enough to get Callahan signed.
