Kris Draper Retirement?

The Red Wings have scheduled a press conference for 11 A.M. on Tuesday. Expected to attend are GM Ken Holland and Kris Draper.

#NHL Congratulations to Kris Draper who will announce retirement as early as tomorrow. Not bad for guy sold from #Jets to #Redwings for $1

He's retiring...there aren't the conflicting reports about this like there was with Ozzie.

Red Wings like these press conferences with their older players.

Adjusted the title since it seems likely he's retiring.

Now watch him sign with Detroit tomorrow.

If it is the case, he had an amazing career. I always felt he was one of the most underrated players outside of Detroit in the entire league. Loved how he played. He is a real hockey player in the best sense of the word.

Guy has over come a lot to play in the NHL as long as he did, thats for sure. From the dollar trade to getting his face broken in '96 from claude. Great career, lots of heart.

Sounds like a retirement to me. Absolutely a key player on all of those great '95 - '05 Wings teams.

Congrats on a great career. Unlike Maltby, I actually have respect for you as a player.

Sad to see him go, but it was definitely necessary.

I was three years old when Claude broke his face. I've never known the Wings without him on the team.

He's had an awesome career; I'm gonna miss seeing him wearing the winged wheel. His grit and tenacity were second to none, even in the latter stages of his career. He always did what had to be done: throwing his body in front of shots, forechecking like mad, hitting whoever needed it, killing penalties, centering the "grind line", contibuting leadership in the locker room, and even scoring the odd goal or two. The consumate character player. Here's to you, Drapes.
