NTC's and NMC are waived all the time not as big an issue as people make it out to be.
Ask LA how they feel about that. PHI ran into the samething with Gagne too. Just because you don't hear guys saying no when asked, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Why would they trade him? They already lost Bergenheim as a UFA, and they can't keep losing quality forwards without someone to replace them.
They are well under the cap, so I don't see why they would do this unless they were bringing in someone better as a replacement & needed the cap space to do so.

Sure they have cap space, but do they have ownerships approval to spend to the cap?
I would give up Lupul maybe, but that wouldn't even make sense since he showed some chemistry with Kessel last year.
This kind of news is akin to saying that Mike Commodore is on the block. Most teams will just look around and smirk, some will give offers of 5th Rd picks etc.
I think Malone is paid about right. It was overpayment when he was signed, but 4.5M only gets you so much. He's a power forward with a history of stepping up in the playoffs, so his value is high to contending teams.
The only thing I could think is that the TB ownership wants to reduce salaries a bit, considering they have several players paid over their cap hit (Lecavelier, Stamkos, Malone and Ohlund all make considerably more than their cap hits at this point). Still....Malone next year flips to a low salary high cap hit player, so it's only one year until they make some 'savings' there.
I'll believe it when he's traded, though I'd love for the Canucks to pick him up. Perfect winger for Kesler.
Yzerman has stated that he has had the viniks approval to raise the cap as needed, but why would he sign guys just to raise the cap, the team is filled out already and we still have downie and hedman to resign next year, yzerman is looking out for the future, no need to handicap the team now. oh and malone is going no where, we would have no one to replace what he brings, he is not overpaid based on what other power forwards make.
This has to be the #2 often used totally incorrect statement on HFboards right behind "Two-way contracts mean the player is not waiver eligible!"
You can be traded injured, happens all the time, you cannot however be WAIVED while injured.
Case and point, at the trade deadline.

If accurate, the only reason why is if Malone requested a trade. He has an NMC through the upcoming season. I don't think they'd shop him w/o his consent with such a clause in place. But again, that's only if the report is accurate which I bet it isn't.
who knows, it wouldnt be the first time tampa shopped a player that had a nmc without their consent, dan boyle. although that was old ownership,
Much lower hit, 50 point winger, both currently injured. Much different styles but Raymond would make a good addition as his speed compliments the other TB forwards very well.

But my point is that we can't just count on Malone to waive it. Now that the organization is stable, I think he likes the team and the area enough to want to stick around for a few more years. His dad is also a scout for the team, but I don't know if that makes any difference.
He is a 40-50 point player max. He throws some hits at a rate higher than average but thats about it unless I am missing something from his book.
Guys I consider comparable to him in terms of talent and what they bring:
Tuomo Ruutu (better player) $3.8 AAV
Troy Brouwer (better player) $2.3 AAV
Steve Ott (better player) $2.95 AAV
Chad LaRose $1.7 AAV
Colby Armstrong $3 AAV
Maybe I have completely misjudged Malone and don't see enough Tampa games but I am not one of those types who believe a player is good because he is big, and I haven't seen much from Malone's game to say he is more than a very good third line player

Troy Brouwer? I hardly think so. Malone is a far better hockey player than Brouwer. Same goes for everyone you listed except for maybe Ruutu.
