It's a nice thought, but there is absolutely no room on this roster to add any more NHL players without loosing somebody off of it that we probably don't want to lose.

Good depth for WBS and can potentially add during the season.

Even if he never plays an NHL game, we needed a veteran scorer in WBS.

Reminds me of the Mike Comrie signing last year, but at least this one is 2-way.

I don't think they're all that similar. Everybody looked at the Comrie signing as a potential steal, and to be fair, had he not gotten injured it could have been. With Williams it's almost irrelevant if he ever plays a game for the Penguins.

This was purely a WBS signing. They needed another top 6 badly.

Yeah, I guess the expectations were higher for Comrie. Williams just reminds me of him. He's a veteran. Not the biggest guy and very slow especially for a player under 6'0".

Replacement for Hutchinson on the point?

Almost dropped 60 points with the Wings a few years back. Not following his career, I take it injuries have been a problem since then?

He was pretty good with Columbus during the 08-09 season.

2-way signing for depth. Nothing else to say about it, really.

I don't think they're comparable. When Comrie was signed, folks thought he'd be paired up with Sid and produce Guerin-like numbers. That obviously wasn't even close to reality. With Williams, I doubt anyone thinks he'll be anything more than an injury call-up, at best, and a scorer for WBS, at worst.

A beast? Not really. He scored 21 goals in 2005-2006, when the Wings had the most prolific offense in the league, but he got a concussion by way of Raffi Torres in late 2006, and his career has pretty much been garbage since then. He was horrid with the Wings in '09-'10. He's lazy and stupid defensively, and he's one of those players whom you can literally almost forget is on the team.

I'm sure the Pens have a lot to worry about with that lump in the AHL "lol."

Say hello to our new Brett Sterling.

In Chicago 3-4 years ago, the guy was tearing it up from the point on their PP. He could be the missing piece to ours.

No thanks. Depth for WBS is just fine.

Injuries have really hurt his career, I know a few years ago he was on pace for 60pts with the Jackets. Williams will be a huge boost to the Baby Pens powerplay because he used to play the point in Detroit, injuries wise, he wouldn't be the first call-up either, especially if it's someone that is going to play in the bottom 6. He seems to be more fragile at this point his life as an NHL player.

Williams will probably be on the forward call-up list after Tangradi, Johnson, and Vitale depending on need (and that's not counting our enforcer call-up, MacIntyre). Who's 17th on your team's forward depth chart?

I'm inclined to agree with the assessment this guy is an emergency call-up if we get into big injury trouble again. Assuming Tangradi doesn't make the team initially, I think he, Johnson, and Joe Victory would all get called before Williams, assuming they were playing well themselves.

The guy will probably be the 17th or 18th forward on our depth chart. I don't think it's an issue.
