Connor Murphy and Brandon Gormley

#Coyotes prospects Brandon Gormley and @cmurphy5 are guests on tonight's KTVK-Channel 3 Sports Show at 9:30pm

I wouldn't think channel 3 would do anything on non NHL hockey players. I wonder if this means the Coyotes will get more local media coverage this season. They should have Zac Larraza on though.

Nice. I still can't believe some people have used words like "lanky" as a negative adjective to describe Murphy. What, you want the opposite? A lil pudgy guy who can barely bend his knees.

The interview exceeded my expectations. The interviewer seemed pretty knowledgeable and longer than I thought it would be. It may have been 12 minutes, I thought it would be more like 5.

Well done Channel 3!

I'll post a link to it later for those who missed it.

That was pretty good, I was surprised how much the guy knew. I kinda felt sorry there for Conner, he was getting shown up with all the talk about major junior vs college and how Brandon has a chance to make the team this year.

I don't feel bad. Gormley was much higher ranked in the draft than he was. And I think Brandon said it best when players take different routes. Murphy wants to play for college and get an education. Kudos to him.

Brandon is one of our bright spots for sure. I really don't think he's going to make the team this year, but he's going to be a great player for sure.

To be honest, Murphy is going to college because he can't handle major junior right now, he will develop better in college, which will benefit him in the long run.

With the prospect depth we have on defense, it's probably for the best that Murphy spends four years at college and fills out that frame.

I really want Gormley to play junior again this year. He needs to experience the World Junior Championships. All past players point to that experience for helping them get their pro career started.

He'd be a lock for the top 2 pairing on the Canadian team.

If he winds up in the AHL, I'm not sure the organization would release him to play in the tournament and besides, there is a glut of good young defensemen on the farm team already.

Gormley isn't eligible for the AHL, and it's unlikely he makes the pro team. He'll be in Moncton again almost definitely.

That's not true at all. Murphy (we're talking Connor-right?) could step on to any CHL team and play in their top four. Sarnia heavily pursued him.

If you make the US WJC team and get drafted in the 1st round.....then i think you can probably handle major junior.

Even though he's not an injury risk apparently, I feel more comfortable with Murphy taking the college route and playing 35-45 games as opposed to 70 + 20 potential playoff games.

Apparently his injuries, while serious, were one-off types rather than re-occuring ones.

However he's still very undeveloped which probably makes him prone to overuse injuries.

He hasn't made the WJC team yet but appears to be a decent bet to.

That's what I'm asking. How is a shot back not a concern? Isn't that generally the biggest concern for any professional hockey player? I haven't read anything on how, exactly, the organization is so convinced that Gord Murphy's kid's wonky back is not an issue all of the sudden, and wont be again. Confusing.

Clearly he can't, regardless of what you think he should be able to handle. It is a longer season against better players, I think he wants to take care of that back of his.

What do you mean "clearly he can't"? I'm legitimately not sure what you're suggesting.
