Vokoun signed?!(indeed, he has!)

Apparently, Sullivan said that it was "good to have Vokoun locked up long term," during his interview on 104.5...so I decided to do the same thing we did with Lilja..and looked on nhlpa.com...Vokoun's 2004\05 salary as 3 million...

This is true. They said it during the sports tonight. It will be officially announced later this week. But it's at least 2 years, could be more, I don't remember.

Vokouuuuuuuun!!

Glad he re-signed, not sure I would have done with my new jersey if he left (not that he would have)

Doesn't nhlpa.com list him at 3 mln for 2004/05. That could be the missing piece of information.

3 million, I was hoping for less, but realistcally figured it would be as much. I just hope he plays like he did in the playoffs or 02/03 because we really can't afford for him to have a bad season (fiscally and teamwise). And why would they announce the signing later this week??? Are they planning something?

Announcements are not made by the Predators until they have a signed contract in hand. I believe that's why the delay.

Payroll next year w/o the signings of Hall, Zidlicky, Erat and Orszagh is $23,605,750

I'm thinking we'll be around 29-31 million dollar range in payroll next year.

If each signed a 1.5 million dollar contract, we would be just at 29.6 million. I think that is quite decent, actually. Management said at the beginning of the off-season that their would be a sizable payroll increase, and to be still under 30 million for the quality of players.......it seems like an accomplishment to me.

the only thing...i wish this were a little lower...say...2.5 or so. Part of me worries that he's going to have another season like last...where there are stretches in which he single-handedly loses games for us. We can't really afford to have that happen, again. We need to see him play a whole season in the form he showed in the playoffs.

I think with an improved defense every season that his stats will improve significantly.

Agreed. With our younger dmen having a season under their belts, they will continue to improve. Plus with Lilja and such, our d will greatly improve.

Very, Very glad Koun is locked up. No way we could let him get away not after he's turned out to be the horse everyone thought Dunny would be.

Congrats to Koun and the PReds for getting it done.

The Preds have stepped it up to show Nashville that they are here to stay.
