"I think I can say this now, because it's not going to hurt anybody's feelings, and it's the truth," Vick says. "I didn't want to come to Philadelphia. Being the third-team quarterback is nothing to smile about. Cincinnati and Buffalo were better options."

Those two teams must be kicking themselves now.
Goodell has to answer for something here. The rest of the quote makes it seem like Goodell didn't allow Vick to go to Buffalo or Cincy.
That's not being an impartial commish at all.
Especially Buffalo, I mean, back then, Vick probably wouldn't have starter over Palmer (still a darling), but he would've atleast pushed, and beaten Edwards as a starter.
So the Bills miss out on a potential top-10 QB in the league because the commish wanted him to go to Philly? Garbage.
Even if you were thinking about Vick's mental health, you could've adapted to give Vick the help he needed in Buffalo.
Funny enough, still not the stupidest thing I've read which came out Vick's mouth this week.

And now today.....
Here’s the full statement that he has released, through the Eagles: “I felt it was necessary to put out a statement today clarifying the article in GQ Magazine. I did speak with many people, but the decision to sign in Philadelphia was based on my discussions with my agent, my family and with Coach Reid. And after those discussions, it became clear to me that this was the place I wanted to play and resume my NFL career. The Commissioner never told me to sign or not sign with particular teams. Again, I want to make it perfectly clear that this was a decision I made and, as I have said numerous times before, I’m very happy with the way it has worked out for me and my family.”
I'm sure the quote was taken out of context. And like you mentioned before. 2 years ago theres no way he starts over Palmer.

And to be honest even if he did do that, good on Goodell. There wasn't a better place than Philly at the time and in hindsight as well.

Vick in a Bengals uniform would probably help them out now that Palmer makes demands.

That honestly just sounds like PR spin. Here is what the original paragraph read:
Quote:
Those two teams wanted him and would've allowed him to start, but after meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell and other reps from the NFL, Vick was convinced—and granted league approval—to sign with Philly. "And I commend and thank them, because they put me in the right situation."
Vick's statement just looks like PR spin to me.
A commissioner's job isn't to push the interests of one franchise over another. He should be impartial.

Well we are comparing what a writer for GQ had to print vs what Vick stated today...and you said yourself that what was the likelyhood the Bengals 2 years ago said sure Vick sign here and your starting ahead of Palmer. Part of the report might have truth to it, but parts of it I have a hard time believing.
Shocking stat #1: IIRC, FO (NFL's equivalent to behindthenet) had Green-Ellis one of the top-5 most effective rushers in the NFL last season.
Lol, well it's pretty much exactly what made me want to pull my hair out as a Falcons fan ever since the draft, so I'm ok if you wanna blame them As long as he stays in Philly I'm happy.
I think he'll have a good year, but he's gotta be more patient, use McCoy in the passing game, and get a healthy Maclin back.

Heh, while I hate the Falcons and wish nothing but 0-16 seasons upon them, in this case, I was referring to this:
Quote:
"I have always been an outstanding football player, I have always had uncanny abilities, great arm strength, an immense ability to play the game from a quarterback standpoint," Vick says. "The problem was that I wasn't given the liberty to do certain things when I was young. The reason I became a better player was because I came to Philly."
Quote:
So then it wasn't a change of mind-set in prison, as is so often claimed as a cornerstone of the Vick story? "No," he says. "I had changed my life long before then. I was just with the wrong team at the wrong time."

Ya, I've always wondered about the timing of these articles, but either way it's pretty funny.
Yes, it's the fault of coaching for trying to get you to at least look downfield before you tuck the ball and run with it haha and when he did look downfield, he didn't read defenses well and forced too many balls into tight spots.
I was impressed with his last half of the year last year, but tonight was the same old bad habits. That being said, he's probably got 1 full game to get ready before the season starts, so I'm sure he'll get to work.
O line is beyond putrid. You just can't function without an O line. I thought they may go 8-8 but not any more. It's shocking how bad they are.
As a Vikings fan, I can tell you that even if T-Jack had 25 seconds in the pocket, he would probably just look down field the whole time, and then just shovel pass, or throw the ball of the back of the o-line.

i was thinking and after listening to matthew berry on espnradio, the one of best ways to get into a sport and invest some time in it make a fantasy team
anyone on HF Oil have a NFL fantasy league with an open spot for a football newbie?
