So the Colts signed Kerry Collins today. And from the sounds of things hes likely to be starting week 1. Sucks for Peyton, especially his consecutive games streak.

I can't believe they went this long with Curtis Painter. I honestly think this guy would get cut from the Eskimos.

I dont know why they didnt/havent cut him. I mean, what are they really hoping out of this guy. Obviously have 0 confidence in him, and has shown no reason to go against that.

Look at some the elite teams the last couple years and they had backups that had to get thrown in.

Rodgers - Matt Flynn
Roethlisberger - Charlie Batch
Brady - Matt Cassell

They actually invested in case something happened. The Colts just hoped nothing every would happen and really just waited until the last possible moment to have to do something.

Risky for a guy who had a career year at 31.

I agree. I just look at what the guy has went through and it's quite a story. A potential film in 15-20 years.

I still think he's a piece of **** personally. Especially considering IIRC, he stated he was a victim of circumstance. (it was an article, he also stated he missed his dogs in the same one)

Personally I think he doesn't come close to his numbers last year. Yes he's in a more stable organization with more weapons, and an offense which makes QB play better than they are, but in my eyes, last year he surprised a lot of people. We'll see, I have my doubts anyone can fix most, if not all their problems as a QB in your early 30s. But that's just me.

Seriously?

Vick is a POS and deserves no praise for finally trying to act as if he is normal law abiding citizen

+ Too early to say anything about him.

Isn't he on probation until 2015? ,, 1 screwup such as DUI or a fight and he could not only be sent to jail but also would get automatic 1 yr suspension from NFL

--- Vick also gave a women Herpes and paid settlement to her when it was revealed he knew about his condition and was getting treatment under name "Ron Mexico" when he chose to infect her ,,, Again POS ---

Nobodies perfect, even guys like Bellichik(or Andy Reid, I mean he's not exactly the greatest father in the world) have skeletons in their closet.

Can we add a poll to this thread. I'm curious which NFL team is the most popular among HF Oil posters. Name all 32 nfl teams and see which is popular.

Good to see the Eagles sign their own death sentence by inking Vick to a retarded contract. Can't wait to see this idiot crash and burn. What's more likely to happen: Vick loses his job due to inconsistent play, or loses it when he gets sent back to jail over things like birthday party shootings that he...allegedly...didn't have a role in? I think that's a good poll idea as well.

If what BWC said is true, knowingly passing on an STD is way past forgiveness in my books. Come on now.

We don't know the whole story. Even then I never said anything about forgiveness. We all do things. Anyways...

Him winning the MVP this year is more likely that any of those things.

He settled the case with large $$$ deal to prevent it from going to trial.

The details that emerged included the damning "Ron Mexico" part. He knew he had herpes , Was getting treatment under the alias "Ron Mexico" but still was having unprotected sex thus infected this women

You dont give a large $$$ settlement to a women claiming you knowingly infected her with Herpes unless you actually did the deed

I'd bet on him sucking long before I'd bet on him winning MVP, but anything's possible I guess. This guy was behind Kevin Kolb of all people less than a year ago. Going from that to MVP seems like a reach to me. But the ESPN hype machine has been pumping his tires relentlessly all pre-season, so will help his case.

Totally agreed. It's amazing how overrated Vick is based on 12 good games. He's a borderline top 10 QB getting paid top 3-5 QB money and also being touted by the "experts" as a top 5 QB. I don't see the hype, we'll see if he can follow it up this year but i'll remain skeptical until then.

What a ridiculous argument. He just got out of prison.

I tend to think he's underrated because he's a running quarterback. Fact is the guy had one of the best games in the history of the league last year against Washington and was 2nd in MVP voting. Also, people act like he wasn't an elite NFL player before he went to jail. Guy was a superstar and all I read is "But but 50% completion percentage!!!!!".

He's been out of prison for two years. He played behind McNabb two years ago, and failed to beat Kolb out in training camp last year.

Vick's performance was clearly declining in his last two Atlanta seasons. It's no surprise that the Falcons were moving to void his $100 million contract exactly four milliseconds after the dog-fighting news broke. They knew they'd made a mistake, and Vick conveniently gave them an easy out. He was a legitimate top-tier QB very early on, but he had probably fallen to the 10-15 range by the time he went to jail as per my recollection.

Vick was not an elite NFL player

He was a great athlete but a mediorce QB who didn't make his teammates better. His whole game was running and when he couldn't run he would screw up as his accuracy was awful and he couldn't read defenses

Vick was the most overated player in sports at time of his arrest

From what I can tell

If QB has bad O-line and poor WR's it is all the QB's fault. Jay Cutler was sacked 52 times and gets punished for it severly

For instance

Sanchez 18th

278-507 54.8 comp %
3,291 yds
17 TD's
13 INT

Colt McCoy was ranked 20th

135-222 60.8 comp %
1,576 yds
6 TD's
9 INT

vs

Jay Cutler was ranked 25th

261-432 60.4 comp %
3,274 yds
23 TD's
16 INT's

I dont see any possible way someone can say with a straight face that Sanchez and especially McCoy were better QB's last year then Cutler.

Trent Dilfer also had a hand in creating this formula which is laughable and when asked about Cutler he said

" Jay failed to protect his O-line and his INT # was unnacceptable and why he was ranked so low"

How the hell does a QB playing behind worst OL get blamed for not protecting it

Also if Cutlers 16 INT's were so bad why were Eli Manning and Carson Palmer who both threw 20+ INT's not punished as severely?

It is a joke and another attempt by ESPN to spin there agenda

This is a network that portrayed Jay Cutler as a worse person then an alledged 2 time rapist and a guy who went to jail for murdering dogs

Vick haters are funny, claiming he only has had one good year. He was the NFL's most popular player before jail, and looks to be one of the best players after jail.

I think the guy has done some unbelievably scum baggish things, and have no further coment on that. But i dont think you fluke into superstar numbers like that... i think you can fluke into slightly higher numbers than your capable of though.

Maybe Vick fluked into a runner up MVP season... but i dont think he fluked his way all the way from above average, through great, through elite, and into MVP caliber.

Maybe he drops off a bit into a reagular old great QB, im fine with that. Not every season can put you in MVP voting, but i think its rediculous for people to say "fluke" and "circumstance" were the reason for an MVP CALIBER SEASON. Plus if you wanna credit the offense for Michael Vick's season... well, its back again this year, the weapons are just as good.. and short of a potential hole in the o-line, should be able to put up great numbers.
