I don't know about that, some of the vitriol towards him is a little scary.
At what point does he not become extremely lucky? Isn't luck involved in most sports to some extent? People keep trying to downplay everything with regard to Tebow and it's sort of ridiculous. He has a long way to go, nobody denies that. Just don't understand how a humble and down to earth athlete that has such a likable persona bothers so many people...
That's what gets me.
I guess it's likable if you share his beliefs and views. Many people find it to be quite the opposite of humility.
Make no mistake, he was putrid until the ol' prevent defense bullshat kicked in, and his kicker made a crazy-long field goal, AND Barber gifting the game away.
That's other players deciding the game, it certainly wasn't the Tebow Show today.

He's not imposing or forcing his belief system on anybody else. If it was such a problem I very much doubt that his teammates and locker-room would be rallying around him the way they currently are and have been. Watch and listen to his post-game interviews... I see and hear nothing other than humility and a deep appreciation for the chance he's been given. Such a refreshing and honest interview whom is genuinely humble. Are people threatened because he's religious?
Tebow has to improve in the first halves of games, that is not being debated. But at the end of the day all that matters is wins and losses. Tebow is 7-1 this year. That is all that matters. He's delivered results when he has to, that is all that matters. This prevent defense as well as the other thousand excuses his detractors have dreamt up mean nothing to me because he is winning football games. The defense is helping a young kid trying to find his feet in the league along, the Broncos shouldn't apologize for having the best pass rushing duo currently in the NFL. It's a team game after all.
Yes, Barber served the game up on a platter to the Broncos.. sometimes luck is a part of sports. How does that saying go? Gotta be lucky to be good and good to be lucky?
It's funny that so many people will hate on Tebow like they do, yet seemingly have little problem supporting a guy who ran a dog-fighting ring or a married man who texts pictures of his pecker to women who rebuff his advances.
I don't hate Tebow, I do hate the Broncos though, always have and this just kills me. I've never seen a team fluke out win after win like this. Oakland looks dead in the water at this point, so I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that they'll make the playoffs. The #5 seed (looks to be either Baltimore or Pittsburgh) will have a free pass to the next round. Mind you, the Saints thought they had one last year too.
Vintage Dallas choke ends the night on a high note though. Do the Cowboys ever play a game that doesn't come down to the final minute? That game totally swings the balance of power in the NFC East. The Cowboys were all but assured a playoff spot with three minutes left, now the Giants are in control.
Hating someone because of what you perceive them to be?
Sounds sort of right-wing to me.
... is a response to this...

One might want to ease up on the generalizations a bit.

He's a person who happens to be a football player, advocating for his beliefs in a way that anyone else can/could/does. His play can obviously be called into question, but I'm not sure it's fair to call out his character or authenticity.

Amen, brother.
What I like about Tebow is his enthusiasm. It's unbridled. As stated, it's refreshing. The fact said enthusiasm and the ways it's expressed bother some, frankly, is their issue.
The truth is, however, that it's his SKILLS that ARE bridled. Let's be real: he has a lot of improving to do in order to be an NFL QB. The fact that he's winning games is essentially a side bar. A distraction. The time WILL come that the wins dry up - for one reason or another - and the whole "performing for 1 of 4 quarters" won't cut it any more.
If the Tebow Train will be de-railed, it likely won't come against the Pats. I'm not saying that the Broncos will WIN, necessarily. But of all the secondaries out there to have success against, Tebow should find relative success there.
I have no problem with Tim Tebow and the way he plays/lives his life. But imo, I suspect that his NFL career will mimic a shooting star: it's pretty bright right now while all the cards are turning up for him, but I can see him fizzing out sooner than later.
Eli, and the Giants, stay Perfect in the Cowboys' new stadium, that's a comfortable place to play.
Also, when you peel away the "magic", and you look at it in a matter of fact manner, if Eli Manning and the Giants needed a 59yr field goal just to get to overtime late in a game against a Chicago team missing both their starting QB and RB, is anyone giving the credit for barely putting 10 points late? The answer is no.
Teebosus is playing well late, but he's getting there with alot of fortunate breaks against bad teams.

I am a Bronco fan and I have to say that this is realy fun to watch. Although admittedly I don't know what the Broncos have in Tebow, I am not sure about them being a free space on the bingo card come playoff time or not. But the way it's going I wont be making any pro-line bets on any of there games. For all we know they could have some success.

The Broncos, with the Teebosus, have played one good team and got CRUSHED, they're as free a space as it gets.

Couldn't agree more. I don't get the hate for Tebow one bit, he's a terrific kid who happens to have very strong religious briefs and so what, it's a free country. I can say more about the religious aspect of this but i'll leave it alone for the sake of trying to keep this thread on topic.
I will say that he's actually one of the good guys in the sport and it's kind of hypocritical that some people would glorify dog killers like Vick or various other NFL criminals (of which there are many) yet hate on this kid just because he gets a lot of media exposure and has strong religious beliefs. It boggles my mind.
As for the football side of it, he still has a long way to go in order to be a consistently good NFL QB but it's certainly telling that he is improving his pass numbers every week and continues to get stronger as the game goes along and make the clutch plays just about every single time.
Luck does play a part and he has a terrific defense to help keep the opposition in check until the 4th quarter so that Tebow can work his magic but there comes a time when he needs to be given some credit for the turnaround of the Broncos season. We need to remember that this is the same defense and running game that surrounded a 1-4 team before Tebow so there's something to be said for the way that he rallys the troops every week, he's a born leader and players seemingly want to follow.
Also, i love the fact that my Lions are the only team to beat (crush) the Tebow led Broncos thus far.
I'm thoroughly disgusted with Green Bay's defence. They won't win the Super Bowl this year with that defence. Dropped balls today were bad too. Credit to KC for playing a good game. Shouldn't have even been that close if the chiefs did more in the red zone.
Two years ago the Seahawks hired Pete Carroll. He inherited a small finesse team that had holes all over the place, an aging quarterback, and no identity. Thus began a monumental roster change. This team isn't a contender yet. But the changes have been unbelievable. This team is now big, physical and mean. They still have holes to fill. The quarterback is still a question mark. But they march onto a football field, any field, and know that they can play smash mouth football with anybody. They are now bringing a swagger that only tough teams can bring.
Oilers management still doesn't get it. Wimpy team. Wimpy coach. Talent that isn't surrounded with toughness is doomed in a contact sport.
The Seahawks have an identity and direction now. The Oilers keep praying that high draft picks somehow manage to cover up the fact that these clowns keep marching down the same failed path.

Seahawks have a bright future, I really hope they somehow make the playoffs this year.
