Eli Manning is both clutch and absolutely MONEY on the road in the Playoffs

Great Game, can't wait for the Rematch

The only thing worse than a Giants-Patriots superbowl would be a Cowboys-Patriots superbowl.

Not only do I have to see my Oilers and Redskins wallow in the gutter of their respective leagues, but I also have to watch teams like the Cannucks, Pats, and Giants play in championship games.

Rough couple of years for me as a sports fan, that's for sure.

The defense has stepped up to an acceptable level, but at the end of the day, they managed to keep Tim Tebow and Joe Flacco in check, not exactly a daunting task.

New England's secondary was abominable this year, one of the worst I've ever seen. The Pats got lucky that they didn't have to face any decent QB's in the playoffs, so that weakness couldn't be exploited.

Honestly, I don't see how they keep the Giants under 30 points. The big question is, can the Giants keep them under 30?

Has any postseason seen this many huge mistakes at key times that determine games? You have the Ravens last minute debacle, and the Texans and 49ers both sent packing with fumbled punts as the difference. Woodhead fumbling a kickoff almost cost his team as well. The Bengals and Packers both gave up improbable TD's in the dying seconds of 1st halves that proved to be the turning points too.

These are two explosive offenses, but only one of the defenses has overt weakness: the Pats'. All things equal, if Manning and Brady are both 'on' with their respective offenses, they should roll. But the Giants' D is more solid.

The Giants are hot. I can't stand it, personally, since I still hold a vendetta against Eli for having held onto Daddy and pulled a Lindros at the draft. But they have a stronger roster right across the board right now, and are a better team than their record shows.

Giants 31, Pats 20

And the Giants just kept the worst red-zone offense in the league in check....

I'm not trying to say they are great defense, because they are far from it. But just listening to the media and thinking the Giants have an amazing, and untouchable defense is also far from reality.

Total defence the Pats were 31st....the Giants were 27th.
Pass yards per game the Pats were 31st....the Giants were 29th.
Russing yards per game the Pats were 17th...the Giants were 19th.

As far post season #'s there are almost identical in all numbers. But the Giants have played one more game. The Giants DO have a more talent defense, but they arent as far apart as people are making them out to be.

The Giants were banged up, especially in the secondary, alot this season.

But I'll say thing, the 49ers aren't world beaters on offense, but holding them to, I think it was, one 3rd down conversion all game, that was ridiculous.

True enough. And the 3rd down statistics last night were ridiculous.

It will be a fun matchup. The Pats D does give up a lot of yards but came up with timely turnovers when it needed to this year.

Half of the Giants points came off of turnovers last night and both gave them great field position. Both D's are facing much better offences, and while 2 offences have basically self-imploded in the post season against the Giants (not to take away from great games from the Giants), I cant see the Pats having back to back off games.

It really should be and I figure, as the old saying goes, it'll be won on the line of scrimmage. I'm a little worried about Wilfork, he was a beast yesterday.

Solid game and a good conclusion to an average season.

Well Eli managed the game very well and didn’t make any mistakes. Brady and the offense made a couple mistakes and that was the difference. They weren’t big mistakes and they weren’t ones that cost the game but they still made them.

I’m sure the interception looked terrible in most peoples minds but it was a jump ball between the leagues best TE and a linebacker. It was a bit underthrown but the turnover still had the Giants offense starting within their 10 yard line.

The Giants weren’t perfect and had 2 fumbles but recovered both and won the turnover battle. Welker didn’t make that catch with 4 minutes left, but Manningham made is at the 50 yard line with just over 2. Both tough but makeable catches but one was made and one wasn’t. Both different makers with that much time on the clock.

A perfect end to the season, other than the Broncos winning the SB. Eli is one of the most clutch athletes I have seen in a long, long time in big games or situations. When the chips are down and he's got to deliver, you just know he's going to make it happen. Very neat to see both of their drives to beat the Pats punctuated with spectacular catches. Tyree's was more awe-inspiring but Mannigham's was a better "football play". Unbelievable presence of mind and athleticism to haul that in and drag that right foot. I really am in love with that entire receiving core, can't help but cheer for players like him, Nicks and Cruz.

Now the long wait until the best league in the world starts up again. Where is that time machine.

i thought the halftime show was better than the game itself. was fantastic. the hype that goes into this game tho is ridiculous. overall an average game, the ending was horrific. happy the giants won.

I found this a very good read. I know must casual fans like to just throw out, "Brady sucks." But I found it to be a very truthful and well written article.

I disagree, if anything he's overrated, because he didn't have to play Eli Manning in the 3 Superbowls he won.

I kid, seriously.

Have to give credit to the NE defense, they did far better than I expected. If you'd told Pigpen the Giants were only going to score 21, he'd have started planning the parade. Ultimately, the offense couldn't get it done with an injured Gronkowsky and other guys dropping balls.

The league has slanted in favour of offenses as much as they can, but the old addage still rings true to an extent, defense wins championships. The Giants D was far from great, but it was better than the Packers, Saints, or Pats. Those three teams were the three favorites, but their air-show approaches all ultimately failed.

I see my Steelers are going to be a different team next year. Hopefully they can retain Wallace.

Still cant imagine Peyton in a different uniform.

As much as I've disliked the guy from a rival stand-point I respect the guy and feel bad the end came for him like this with the Colts. He's much like an Iginla in comparison.

But unlike the Flames, the Colts seem to have a good sense of timing for "when to let go"

It will be very strange, but it's the right time for the franchise to go in a different direction.

You have to think Houston goes after him hard.

Houston has Schaub though. Who isn't a bad QB, and sure they ran into some major injury problems in the QB spot.

I'd like to see him in Miami though.

Can you imagine if Peyton plays another 5 years at his hall of fame pace and Andrew Luck plays as good as Ryan Leaf?
