Whole other mindset at work here.
I don't disagree. I was a little disappointed in the not guilty plea/the appeal in the first place.

Guy was caught red handed and took almost every measure to get out of it. I have little sympathy for someone who does that in something so black/white as drinking and driving. At least he's dropped this final appeal (perhaps on the advice of his lawyer or even the Oilers).

All we can hope is that he gets the sentence underway as quick as possible. I don't particularily want him here, but he's going to be one of the two goalies regardless. Best to have him as ready as possible.

Katy Perry is so nice to look at. I use the term 'nice to look at' on purpose instead of hot, cause its just enjoyable to look at her.

Those 15 days he's at home he better be getting a hired physio come to his house so he can do nonstop physio for 15 days so he doesn't get/play injured...

It's perfect timing for him to serve his time. During the 30 days its not like he can do anything else but off ice training. If I had 15 days in prison and then 15 days trapped at home I'd probably start working out too!

I'm sure a month of being sedentary is exactly what a 40-year-old goalie looking for a bounce-back year needs...

He's Tambo biggest free agent signing, our MVP. Tambo had to give him every opportunity to live up to that. Gerber was going back to the minors last year no matter what he did because there was no way they were giving him Khabby's roster spot.

All that being said, I think even Tambo would cut Khabby loose at this point and trade him if there were a deal out there. Obviously, there isn't one though, unless of course you want to take an even worse contract back.

The Oilers grovelled at the feet of Dany Heatley who took the life of a teamate (Dan Snyder) a couple yrs ago, why should we expect them to not support Khabibulin in his hour of need on this much lesser charge of impaired driving?

Maybe we can move him for Horcoff?

It's funny you mention that. I was just trying to think which contracts are worse than Khabby's. One came to mind right off the bat: Rick DiPietro's. After that, I was like... who else? Horcoff? But we can't trade him for Horcoff!

Yeah. MacT also killed a girl while drunk driving and spent a year in jail before coming to the Oilers. :/

Kinda sniffed this one out..

"The length of this process has placed my attendance at training camp in serious jeopardy," Khabibulin said in a statement posted by the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan. "Despite assurances by legal counsel regarding the strength of my appeals case, I have decided to withdraw my appeal and proceed with sentencing.

Wait a minute, you can't have it both ways, you run your mouth about "broken back" and such yet you seem to be backing sheldon souray, who was a bigger band aid. Also we get it everyone he had crappy numbers last year, how about the fact he was one of the only reasons we actually won games or even had a chance to do it in his first year here. I mean thank god you fans actually have no say in what happens in the league because by your reasoning going into this year tim thomas would have been run out of boston, Marty Broduer would be out a job in new jersey and Roli would have been ran out of town (all if you do not think so look at some of the past comments on here about roloson being too old and such). The fact is he this still is the perfect goalie for Edmonton, this year he and Dubnyk will split time and next year (all things hopefully go well with Dubnyk's development) he will be backing devon up.

I wonder if this will affect his ability to cross the border and have a work visa to play in the US? Guaranteed starts for DD if so.
