I mean thank god you fans actually have no say in what happens in the league because by your reasoning going into this year tim thomas would have been run out of boston, Marty Broduer would be out a job in new jersey and Roli would have been ran out of town (all if you do not think so look at some of the past comments on here about roloson being too old and such). The fact is he this still is the perfect goalie for Edmonton, this year he and Dubnyk will split time and next year (all things hopefully go well with Dubnyk's development) he will be backing devon up.
What? You're sniffing glue. Khabby has played a handfull or really good games in his time here. He's been injured, a distraction and generally got totally outplayed by Dubnyk last year despite getting way more opportunities. He is the perfect goalie for us next year if we want to be a lottery team that is for sure.

In the vein of positive thinking, let's believe that he was distracted about possible jail time all last season, & with it behind him he'll experience a career rebound worthy of a Masterton award.

No I don't see that happening. Heatley can still cross after his accident. And this is nothing compared to his.

If the Oilers are smart (and I use that term loosely) then he isn't even in their plans as the starting goaltender. Dubnyk outplayed him dramatically last year.

From what I understand the appeal process is what was taking long, so he dropped it so that he can attend TC.

I think your 'translation' no matter how tongue-in-cheek is kind of unnecessary, since it's widely reported that Khabibulin is a hard worker, great teammate, and really doesn't look to have a "me" attitude.

from the TSN article:

Quote:
DuBiel said Khabibulin will serve the first 15 days of his sentence in jail with work release and the other half of his sentence under house arrest. He will have to wear an ankle monitor and is subject to random alcohol testing.
Does an ankle monitor affect wearing skates? It may mean Khabby won't be on an ice surface for a whole month.

More ice time for Roy, Bunz and those young Finn goalies.

Revisionist history ... Khabibulin has had more than a "handful" of really good games in Edmonton. People don't like to remember those games because of how badly he played last year and his legal woes, but he was significantly better in his 1st year here.

He is capable of having a bounceback year, although it's somewhat unlikely. And he has never had much help in front of him in his time here.

Despite that, didn't Khabibulin have 2 winless months, because no matter the outcome it's usually the W's that matter to people.

He was quite bad last year. I think the losing got to him and wore him down. He ended up being a goalie that fell victim to that one-bad-goal-per-game scenario (maybe two per game during that winless streak).

you guys are kinda making light of his jail time. 15 days in Maricopa county....tent city. i do not wish that on my enemy. hes going to be in a tent with about 40 other inmates. Bulin will be boiling. it will be august and well over 110F. thats 43c to those of you who cant do the conversion. thats HOT. and its also dangerous. not the heat the people. its BS. in arizona and most states a guy who commited non violent crime or a NONfelony will be sleepin and living with guys who are rapists and criminals. thats not justice. the assults and deaths in that in maricopa county jails are in the top 5 in the country. im not saying prison should be a walk in the park but for non violent offenders you should not be put in a situation where your health is at risk. personally ive never been to jail. but people make mistakes, he made a mistake and should pay. but not with his well being. i would hope they would put him in protective custody but the sherrif likes press and tv time so i wouldnt be surpised if he throws him in general pop to show how "fair" he is. nobody gets special treatment.

Most valued prisoner!
Atleast for 15days we know that he will be sober. Atleast am hoping so, we should all scramble to buy off one of the guards to make sure Khabbi doesnt drink that prisoner wine they make in the toilets..

Being sober Khabbi will save pucks, he gets a work release equalls win. This is a great thing for us!!

If last season was any indication, the ankle bracelet will miss his ankle and escape through his legs. 15 day sentence.

This is a joke right?

A link to Khabbys paid Attorney saying all the right things on behalf of his client?

Ever heard of spin?

He could have withdrew his appeal at anytime. Like I indicated for some reason he chose late July to do it and by Khabi's own words the TC appearance is likely in jeopardy.

I read it the same as some others. Khabibulin has withdrawn the appeal because he was concerned that it would effect his ability to attend TC. I think his goal is to have it all over before TC starts.

According to Tencer (on show just a few seconds ago) Khabibulins's house arrest will allow 12 hours of training etc. Per day

I don't suppose he chose this time because it's the latest possible time before his TC appearance was in jeopardy, as is stated in the link I gave you.

You seem to be selectively quoting things, as you omit this quote, from the same article, from Khabibulin himself:

Quote:
"Once completed, I eagerly anticipate a timely return to Edmonton for training camp, where I will strive to be the best player, teammate and citizen possible."
You pay a lawyer to prove your innocence. Seems this was the plan, and seeing how long the appeal process was taking, they dropped it to speed up the process and ensure he's at TC.

Not to mention, you don't address how you're putting words into his mouth in regards to "I RUSSIAN STAR" & "What is this practice?" which, in my opinion, are pretty clearly not indicative whatsoever of the type of person, and teammate, Khabibulin is. Just completely unnecessary.

Tom Renney talked about his exit interview a bit with Bulin on Oilers Lunch today, it seemed positive.

In what way? If he still sees Boozin as his starter then I'm extremely discouraged.

He said that Bulin understands where he stands in respect to his play.
If Dubnyk is better then he will play and vice versa. He also said that he wants to play Bulin less to let Dubnyk get more starts regardless and that a lighter workload would be good for Bulin.
This was all said about an hour or two before the story came out of AZ regarding him dropping the appeal and doing the 15+15.
