The players and coaching staff had nothing but great things to say about his character.

Now let's own this August 1st vote
Thanks for the support...

This works out for both sides for sure... Hunter really had no spot on this team anymore and for a guy who had 2 seasons left on his contract thats just not a good thing to have no spot. As far as Rolston goes great guy, class act, going to give some great leadership and heck 30 to 40 points and some pp help is cool with me.

Glad to see someone is willing to wive there ntc to come here.

Apologies. There has been so much Bailey bashing this offseason that it triggered an impulse response.

The fact that Rolston only has 1 year remaining on his contract is ideal. It won't block any of the kids we have in the wings as you've mentioned.

As for the defenseman, Snow is in no rush to do anything now. Once Comeau and Bailey are signed, we may be right at the cap floor so we'll be compliant.

This also continues Garth's love of first round picks:

Bailey
DiPietro
Grabner
Montoya
Neiderreiter
Okposo
Reasoner
Rolston
Tavares
Wishart
plus deHaan, Strome, and Nelson

What is the big deal here? The Islanders get the help they need to get to the floor & get a better player than the one they gave up.

If he was signed for another 3 years then yeah, you can complain, but this is a solid deal for both clubs. If nothing else at least there is someone in the locker room who has won something now.

Thanks for the help guys.

No reason Rolston can't put up 40-50 points if he plays in your top 6 all year.

Don't really think he'll see top 6 time. Moulson and Grabner are ahead of him on LW. He'll be a good veteran winger for Bailey on the 3rd line.

am i the only one who would have loved to make the same trade plus or minus scraps for gomez?

rolston is for sure a better player than hunter but gomez would actually be a legit change to the lineup....i dont think the extra 2 million of cap space would have strung us

Apparently all of Rolston's kids are walking around Traverse City, MI decked out in Isles gear. That is a very good sign.

He can play center or right... better on the rw then center also if you needed to slot him in there.

WOW!! More importantly he waived his NMC to come here.....the tides are changing.....Unless Lou told him "you can play in the NHL for the Islanders or the AHL for the Devils"...

If you want the best out of Rolston, he should be on the LW and playing with whichever of your centers can pass the puck the best. He'll put up 20 goals with enough icetime.

Someone gets it. I understand this is not the big time deal everyone was hoping for but its still a good deal anyway you look at it. He will help us this season and then he is gone. It's not like we are the ceiling and this deal seriously handcuffs us. We replace Hunter who as much as I like the guy he has been pretty bad the past couple seasons with a solid vet who can help us out and then after that he's off our roster where as Hunter would be under contract next season as well.

Technically Yes, but I don't think Nielsen or Comeau ever played under Milbury as the GM though.

well that's good because JT (who he won't play with) Neilsen & Bailey are all very good-excellent passers.

I'm sure he'll be with Bailey & either Comeau or more likely Nino (with Comeau traded)

He needs a playmaker to be successful.

why does everyone want to trade comeau so bad? i would much rather part with bailey--comeau scored 24 goals last year and is getting better every year....is a 25-30 goal scorer bad?

as far as im conncerned id be ecstatic with bailey turning into a 20-40 guy....definitely not a sure thing to happen...

Don't mind this trade at all. Rolston could put up 40+ points and really help this team. Also helps us get to the cap floor which wasn't going to happen through free agency.

From Katie Strang's twitter:

Quote:
Rolston: "I'm excited. Super happy to get traded to the Islanders, a team that has a bright future and is ready to take that next step."
Quote:
Rolston on 2nd half last ssn: "I proved I can produce and it was vindicating for me. Talk is talk but if I get opportunity, I'll produce."
Quote:
Rolston feels like he'll be better utilized by #Isles, hopes to play in a top-two line capacity. Also killing penalties and playing pt on PP

I don't want to. I actually think he's on the cusp of being a 30 goal scorer. I just think it's going to happen.

With that said, if he + a package can bring in a legit top 2 Dman, then I won't complain about moving Comeau.

I'm not saying I want to move him or I'm screaming for him to be traded at all and I still think most of us here want him on the team. There have been quite a few rumors about Comeau being shopped for a defenseman lately which makes sense is all people are just trying to read between the lines here and if he brings back a solid top pairing defensemen then I'll be fine with it.
