It's a great trade all around and both sides should be happy. Both Hunter and Rolston should be happy because they are not moving very far geographically which is great for their families as well. I think that may get lost in all of this. Trent has been an exemplary Islander with tons of class. I've heard great things about Rolston in the character/leadership department as well. Not having to uproot both families of such great guys puts a smile on my face.

How is Rolston playing at this point in his career?
He's best at LW but more than adequate at RW. C is a little rough.

He's great at the point, if you have a passer on the other point (Streit, for example). You don't really want him running the PP, but if you can set up his shot, the PP will produce.

Because of his contract, people forget Rolston is still a good 3rd liner and PPQB. He will score 20+ goals for the Islanders next year.

With the Isles cap space, they can practically ignore the contract. They get a good 3rd liner without giving up anything of value. The Devils get their much needed cap space. Great deal for both teams.

Rolston probably didn't want to waive his NTC to go to Ottawa

Zherdev can probably score 20. They didn't have to help the devils. stupid move by NYI

Kuba's cap hit is 3.7. Not as much savings.

You're kidding right? It was mini-camp, not training camp!

Since when is Hunter considered a dump? isn't his salary like $1.5 or something.

that will help them get to the Cap floor alright, lol...........Rolston did good after he was waived. Good vet for the kids and he does'nt have to move far so why not waive, he has already won a cup

Hunter has potential but alwdays hurt

what's this Zherdev nonesense?

Zherdev's an example. Heck if it's leadership you're after islanders could've gone for John Madden

Solid move for both teams. Gives the Devils 3mil in cap space and gives the NYI the extra salary to hit the cap floor. Rolston will be a good veteran presence and chip in offensively. Hunter is a possible 4th liner...that's all.

It's called getting a good rep with other GM's in the league, Snow is a class act.

Plus why not? Isles got the better player in the deal and it helps both teams for different reasons.
