Linköpings HC preview from MHL website for the World Club Junior Cup
Google translate, so beware:
Official website of the Youth Hockey League continues to provide members of the World Cup coming to youth club teams, which will take place in Omsk, from 18 to 26 August. At this time it will be a champion Swedish hockey club, "Linköping".
It's no secret that the Swedish approach to youth hockey worthy of respect. Their junior league, their willingness to nurture a new cadre for the national team, and their very special style of play - all said that Sweden - a real hockey power.
The Swedes have ventured to "modernize" the structure of its league in the late nineties when they were pretty 'aged' team became uncompetitive after the triumph at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer in 1994. Due to the increasing demand for the Scandinavians in the NHL, "Tre Krunor" lost virtually all the leaders of that time: Peter Forsberg, Niklas Lindström, Mats Sundin and the other great masters. Swedish Championship is no longer one of Europe's leading, and young people are increasingly preferred to the national championship a trip overseas.
The first sign to the development of junior hockey was the opening of a specialized academy based on the Swedish giants in those years, "Frolunda," which in the nineties has won everything possible and impossible. Taking as an example the experience of their colleagues, as one Elitserien clubs started their school and farm clubs for young players. Gradually, the level of the championship in Sweden has grown significantly, and the team received a new "stars" in the face of Henrik Zetterberg, Nicklas Kronvallya, Henrik Lundqvist.
One of the first clubs to have decided to abandon the Legion and to entrust their future with homegrown juniors became just "Linköping". A team from the same town was founded in 1976, but in the Swedish elite ice hockey was able to break only in the 1999/2000 season.
For the first time the club was able to get into the playoffs in 2003, and in 2007 reached the finals of the national championship, losing to the formidable «MoDo» in seven matches deciding the series. Another way to the finals is dated 2008, where the "lions" (nickname of the team - approx. MHL) is also lost in seven games. At this time their abuser was another grand - HV-71.
It is worth noting that in the last 7 years in the "Linköping" were listed only nine foreign players, most of which (5) were in favor of the Swedes in the season 2001/2002.
But the youth team, "Linköping" is already getting four triumphant national championship and is the reigning champion of his country. Formidable force Swedish team is a bunch of young hitters: Sebastian Ottoson and Joachim Nermak double this year scored over 55 points in the Elitserien. Ottoson, 20 years is the undisputed leader of the youth national team of Sweden and more than once was involved in the stages of the Euro Hockey Tour. Nermak also recently won the silver medal Junior World Cup in Germany.
Of course, with such a composition, "Linköping" is one of the contenders for the World Cup. Especially interesting to watch the fights on the ice, "Omsk Arena" and the Royal Institution. Blinov in late August.

Is it possible guys like Nermark, Backman who plays Elitserien, to play in Omsk? Tourney takes place 18-26 august. When does Ivan Hlinka tourney take place? The same time?

Matthias Bäckman is born 1992 and no longer a junior next year, so probably not. Nermark, Christoffer Fish and Jonatan Nielsen have contacts with Linköping but are born 1993 and could very well show up. Linköpings goldwinning junior team had a strong core of players born 1992 that next year probably will play with the main team, be loaned out, or leave for clubs further down the divisions. Still next years team will probably be very good. In Marcus Högberg, Jesper Pettersson, Victor Crus-Rydberg, Anton Brehmer, Leon Bristedt, Marcus Fornell they have a solid group of 1994´s and 1995´s that all have payed for the NT in their agegroup. They also have a great group of 1996´s that probably will play with the j-18 team next season though.
thanks, as I know guys born 1991 can play in Omsk, IMO 2-3 per team. Of course, if rules are the same like last year. So Matthias Bäckman can play. I just want to know if Linkoping will send all best (1991 younger) or not. I know these guys will play Elitserien next season, so maybe club will not send them to represent country at Omsk tourney. Especially if club has a solid group of 1994´s and 1995´s as you wrote.

Overagers almost never play in Superelit, theres only some very rare exceptions (like Stefan Söder for Djurgården and some goalies) When a player is not a junior anymore but still signed for a SEL-team, they either play with the main team or get loaned out to a team in Allsvenskan (or some cases division 1).
Maybe it would be good if Superelit had more overagers, (like CHL and MHL) but right now it's basicly so that when a player is not a junior anymore he plays senior hockey somewhere.
thx, so I think overagers will not play forLinkoping at tourney. It is sad because Linkoping could make a great team. Last season CSKA jr team had D Sergeyev (´91) on roster at tourney but he played KHL this season not MHL (only 4 games). He just helped CSKA jr in Omsk, nothing more. I would like to see the same scenario with Linkoping and HIFK but I think it wont happen.
It all depends what Linköping want to get out of the tournament. It's played before the SEL regular season starts... so that won't be a problem.
They could see it as a preseason tournament for the U20 team, in which case they will only ice players who are expected to play with the U20 team during the regular season. Or they could see it as a true champions tournament and send the best players possible in an attempt to win it.
However... this tournament is played at the same time as Linköping's SEL team play in the European Trophy... where they often play even unsigned juniors. So who knows what they will send to the junior tournament.

Very similar situation for most teams coming to this tournament.

Linköping will travel to this tournament with a very young team. Lots of 94's and 95's so they will probably have a very hard time getting good results.
Linköping's squad for next season was made official today (so this is probably what they will send to the tournament).

Vrana, Crus, Bristedt will not play. Will go to Hlinka. Replacements for them not yet set
Calle Andersson wants to have a WJC word. 2+2 yesterday, 4+3 first three games.
Other J20 guys that are of interest have also started the season well. Filip Sandberg 2+3 in 2games, Oscar Sundqvist 3+3 in 4 games, Lucas Wallmark 1+4 in 3 games.
I'm a bit interested in Marcus Oscarsson(Luleå) aswell. -93 born and J20 captain, their first callup if I understand things right. Big guy, 6'2" & 194lbs. Had good production already last year and now 1+7 in first 4 games this year. Never played for any of the National teams. Any word on him?
Strange Sundqvist didn't play J20 last year. From the four games I've watched, him and Wallmark have been the best players on the team.
Did he put in another gear during the playoffs and then just kept going?

Do you mind describing what kind of game Sundqvist plays? he was described more of a big body with a nasty edge to his game, but he seems to have produced nicely so far this season. Untapped offensive potential? or just a fluke?
