A few for the Stars; Brenden Morrow, Mike Modano, Jason Arnott, Sergei Zubov, Philippe Boucher and Niko Kapanen. Usually anyway, last year everyone plain sucked.

For the last few years, it's been Marian Hossa and Chris Phillips. Unfortunately, they don't get much help. Phillips especially is a beast come playoff time.

For the Red Wings, a lot of guys tend to step up during the good years (Lidstrom, Yzerman, Shanahan, etc.). I would say Thomas Holmstrom is the player who elevates the level of his play the most dramatically, of the current Wings. In the recent past, Sergei Fedorov was money in the playoffs regardless of what kind of regular season numbers he put up.

unfortunately you can put every canuck on that list... but until we see Cloutier on that list, this team won't get far

I'd like to see Naslund up there next year too... he's not a player I'd see there so far.

And I wouldn't Bert on that list at all... he might "hit like a mack truck" but he needs to do *way* more than that to be a player that steps up in the playoffs... that's something that gets someone like May on the list, for Bertuzzi that's not nearly enough... a guy who can score 40 goals and get over 90 pts in the season though, needs to have his offense there to be someone that steps up in the playoffs.

I agree with Cooke, Linden, and Morrison... most years and games could probably put Daniel and Henrik on that list too, until last year they were always raising it a level in the playoffs.

Jovo - I don't know... offensively no worries, but he needs to play smarter and better defensively ... he's a key to our team, and needs to be better IMO.

He doesn't do it every playoffs.

But yeah, if it was the 2004 playoffs, he'd be in there.

Awards:
New Jersey's team is created of players who step it up in the playoffs... otherwise Lamoriello wouldn't take them. But last season, the notables were:

Jan Hrdina
Eric Rasmussen
Patrik Elias
Scott Gomez
Brian Gionta
Sergei Brylin
Colin White
Scott Niedermayer
Paul Martin

I think he steps it up every playoffs, in so much as his play radically improves - he only really stood out this year.

for the Sharks - I think most sj fans would agree that Vinnie Damphousse certainly 'stepped up' & contributed greatly to the team's success in the postseason - as compared to a relatively unspectacular run during the regular season...It was great to see Vin D. doing so well - with his veteren experience providing a much needed source of stability for a team comprised mostly of young skaters - a few having never even participated in a postseason match before

Watching the Flames go up against the Canucks, I actually thought Morrison was the MVP.

There's not alot of Canuck players I'd want on my team, but Morrison would be one I'd dearly have over Reinprecht, Lombardi et al.

For the Flames, I'll give the "DUH" answere and say Martin Gelinas.

As looooooob pointed out, a few had their moments - most notably for me, Iginla, Saprykin and Nilson.
