I doubt they will keep both Monych and Konsorada around, because their defense needs all the help it can get and therefore will have to keep both Later and Blanchette (although Blanchette isn't that great). Going to be great seeing Monych back (for however many games that might be for).

I think they should keep both of them around if they can't get a substantial return for Monych in a trade. He is far too good a player to be traded for a third round bantam pick or something like that. You said it, Blanchette is a plug, I'd much rather see them keep Later/Konsorada/Monych.

No link yet, but the Prince George Cougars and Josh Garbutt agreed to part ways earlier today, leaving an overage spot open on the Cougars roster.

Unless it is a deadline deal involving a contender getting that final piece to the puzzle, a swap of overagers, or one desperate GM looking to deal, a draft pick is all that any team is willing to give up for any overage player.

Why would any team give up something substantial if the player they get in return is useless the following season?

He's no longer listed on the team's website. In other words, GONE!

Brandon trades defenseman Andre Blanchette to the Prince George Cougars in exchange for 6th round bantam draft pick in 2005.

Well, we got our wish - going to be awesome watching Monych fly down the wing for the rest of the year. Konsorada seems like a completely different player having Monych with him - sure he had lots of points before, but they were all on the power play. Now we have two great forward lines, together with Sandell and Reaves (who are both going to improve drastically before the end of the year) playing together on the 3rd or 4th line. Hopefully our young defence can show some good improvement with the increased playing time. I agree completely with your comment re: Blanchette - I actually posted something quite similar on the Wheaties board and got blasted - I think it might have been a Blanchette relative. Nothing against the kid as he was a hard worker, but he just doesn't have the talent to take up a 20 year old position.

Well, Blanchette now WON'T be taking up a 20 year old spot with the Cougars as it appears he won't be reporting to them.

He apparently signed on with.....Camrose in the AJHL, and will be going there to play out the year.

So....that means the cougars get their 6th round pick by...likely, and will still be looking for an Overager to fill that whole.
