Legit answer: Versteeg has about the same chance of being traded as Crosby. Not because they're in the same universe skill wise...well, you should be able to figure that out.

Versteeg is one of the most overrated players in the league. Do not want.

It's just such a stupid question to begin with. The Panthers just traded for him, they're not trading him again.

man he REALLY needs to go to the rangers next year that way he can get a nice fat contract from sather, say 4 years 4.5 per year because hey it's sather and he LOVES to spend money and a NTC or NMC so he never has to move again. he went from Hawk to Toronto to Philly to the Panthers in a year.

Well no **** Sherlock of course the Devils don't want him. I just like him and if anyone actually wants to answer the question and not basically repeat the same thing over and over, that would be great

1. First of all he has 3 teams in one 1 1/2 Seasons. So i doubt your gm want to trade for him!
2. Neither in Toronto and Philly he shows something great? Why should he in NJ?

3. He only enjoy his chewing gum, but donīt play any hockey.

He was horrible in Philadelphia!

leave him in Florida

That's not chewing gum

Hawks traded him for cap reasons
Toronto is well Toronto. Kessel
Philly needed the cap space to bring in Jagr

So expecting legit answers to a question that is not legit seems hypocritical don't you think?
Pretty much sums it up.

When I saw the thread title I thought it might be an old thread that had gotten bumped!!

Try proposing deals for players that have NOT just recently been traded for, if your aim is sensible answers

I wouldn't mind him as a 2nd/3rd line depth winger, only if we didn't have a logjam at forward.

Parise-Zajac-Palmieri
Kovalchuk-Josefson-Tedenby
Zubrus-Elias-Versteeg

But not at $3M, and I certainly wouldn't give up any assets for him. I'd rather give Clarkson/Henrique/Zharkov at crack at the top 9.

Just an observation from a Panthers season ticket holder regarding Pete DeBoer, who I admired for his ability to get the most out of a team lacking, but recognized that he also had the ability to alienate some players. On a DeBoer coached team, Versteeg would not be a good fit unless NJ wanted to pay $3 million for some one to play a role similar to Radek Dvorak.

I do enjoy how every Devils thread on this board turns into a troll thread.

I was just thinking the other day, if there is a player that has a chance to play for every team in the league, it's Versteeg.

Have fun with him, if there's any team he'll fit on it's the Panthers. A team that's suddenly full of overpaid Journeymen.

I get that you needed to get to the cap floor but some of the term on those contracts is ridiculous. I don't think any of those contracts are going to look good next season, and there won't be teams looking to get to the floor that will be willing to take them.

Ironically Versteeg was probably their best acquisition this summer.

I was a big Versteeg fan too until I actually got to watch him play on a non-Stanley Cup team. Believe me, you don't want him.

I don't get the hate for Versteeg. He's a 20-25/25-30 guy who's 24 years old (with a cup), there's still room for improvement. I'm not saying he's the most versatile player, but wow, how can you say he's over-paid at 3 million.
