Letestu or Jeffrey to Phoenix

Coyotes are desperate for a center. Pittsburgh has an embarrassment of riches at the position.

Can something be worked out that makes sense for both teams. Phoenix has some NHL ready young talent, as well as some depth prospects a little further out. Depending on which the Penguins might prefer. NHL ready wings or D or future wings or D. Picks?

Anything?

Pittsburgh is stacked for defence at the NHL, AHL, and junior levels. They're also now fairly deep with guys that are left shot wingers. The two places the could use some tweaking are the #5 defencman and perhaps a top nine right shot winger.

If a deal included Niskanen then I could see them taking a deal to improve the third pairing in the NHL. This imaginary defenceman would have a cap hit of 2.5 million or less, shoot left, skate well, and be capable of spot duty in the top 4 to fill in if one of the regular top 4 is injured.

If a deal didn't include Niskanen it would be a hard move to make. it would need to be a 1 for 1 forward swap for an imaginary top nine right shot winger with a cap hit of less than 1 million.

Sounds like Brett MacLean or Viktor Tikhonov.

EDIT: I guess everyone had the same thought. Haha.

Double edit: what about Stempniak? 1.9m too high a cap hit for a near lock for 20 goals.

Given our depth chart in that position, I would think Shero would certainly listen. More so for Letestu.
But in all honesty, they have done too little yet to merit much coming back, and without overpayment their cap-hits are such that it doesn't make much sense trading them. Rather let them prove themselves more before cashing in.

But I for one am certainly ready to be bowled over by your offer .

NB: Letestu for Tikhonov I'd do.

How has MacLean progressed in the AHL? My initial instinct was to say a Letestu for MacLean trade would be great for the Pens, but then I realized that was me basing it on what I remember of MacLean in junior.

I wouldn't. I've never understood using a 1st round pick for Tikhonov and he hasn't shown anything to get me want him on the Pens.

Letestu for Ekman-Larsson.

Just kidding. I would do Letestu for Maclean or Stempniak.

Stempniak is solid but there's really no room for him in the Pens lineup. Would have worked better before we signed Sullivan. Also acquiring Stempniak would push Pens right against the cap and leave no room for trade deadline acquisitions. So it wouldn't really work for the Pens though the value would certainly be there.

Someone like MacLean works better as the added cap hit isn't as big and he could also be sent to AHL next year allowing more roster flexibility. Would also be longer term solution than Stempniak.

I doubt Coyotes would take Niskanen. Their D seems full to me so no room for Niskanen and they're not a team to spend that much money for an extra D-man.

Meh, we'd be looking for a prospect with upside if we were to deal Jeffrey, I figure. MacLean would be a mutually beneficial deal.

I think that Letestu for MacLean sounds fair for both sides.

Another option for the Phoenix center problem, Andre Loktionov?

Would anybody be shocked if it were Jeffrey for MacLean? Just curious.

So far, it sounds like it is not unreasonable to imagine a scenario where one of Jeffrey or Letestu is moved to Phoenix for a winger like MacLean or Tikhonov. Possibly Stempniak if Niskanen finds his way into the deal, possibly with Schlemko headed back. Fair?

gaining Staal would increase the offensive production for both Staal and Hanzal, because neither player would be counted on to be the shut down center 100% of the time and force mismatches. But like I said, he would be a wish, and I wouldn't want the Coyotes to give up the players it would take to acquire him...

i think Grabovski would be a good fit for you guys if he hits free agency for whatever reason ... he has very good offensive instincts and is also good defensively

the only way i could see him hitting Free Agency is if the Leafs gain a true #1 and if Grabo is asking for too much money

im a huge Grabo fan .... this video will show why

I've always been a big Grabovski fan. He's always the most noticeable guy in the offensive zone. Always gives me a positive impression. Plus, if Shane Doan were a midget, he would look EXACTLY like Grabovski.
