If any one takes the time to read all of this THANK YOU!! I was very bored at work today.
Yea Thanks I figured smyth may wear down a bit because of the roles he may potentially have to fill on PK and PP, it's hard to play all 82 games. I think my expectations for RNH in junior may be a little lofty, but I'd love to see it happen.
@tyrolean understandable, but sometimes it's difficult to predict who will miss time due to injury. Like who called Hall's or Gagner's injury this time last year? I have almost every player missing at least a bit of time, some (Hemsky) more than others due to history. I had a difficult time seeing anyone regress offensively out of who I listed. I guess if RNH makes the team then Gagners numbbers could drop off a bit. Who do you think will regress based off of just a poor year, and why?
2. Whether the Edmonton Oilers are close to competing for a playoff spot is unknown, but they will be exciting. It's easy to project them as an elite Pittsburgh Penguins-style contender by 2013 or 2014. There are a good number of general managers who gladly would trade their team for the Oilers' roster.
4. Edmonton's Ales Hemsky will lead the NHL in trade rumors. Again.
Not bad at all... but I seriously think that Florida has a good shot at finishing ahead of us.
Also: Islanders aren't done making moves yet. If their next big move to get above the cap floor upgrades their blueline I think Edmonton has a shot at 2nd last in the league... a shot.
Wouldn't that honestly be scary. With 1 more year we'd obviously be in pretty good shape at all positions in terms of drafting.
As things are going right now our system has 3 goalies, 4+ solid defensive prospects, 3 solid centers and a couple of wingers. 1 more year in the basement and it's looking pretty scary. We might have to start getting rid of decent players just to stay under the 40 contract limit.
As for your point projections, I think you tried to be very fair and unbiased.
With that said, by about the second period of game 1, I'm going to have my expectations drastically rise and the season will either be glorious, or a complete disappointment instead of either glorious or what I expected.
