[SJ] Sharks sign Brent Burns to extension (5 years, $5.75M per)
Yes, you can. It's not that difficult if you truly want to end the debate.
I'm not saying I agree with the Flyers fan, but even if I say to stop the conversation and someone still questions my knowledge, I'm going to start it up again until either I get infracted or a mod closes the topic.
And I still feel Sharks fans are at equal fault, because
1. Why are we questioning, let alone trying to change someone's opinion?
2. The Flyers fan said to end it, so why are Sharks fans still responding? (hence playing the last word game) Like you said, Sharks fans are continuing to debate despite him not wanting to anymore.
At fault for what, though? The only thing I've done is accused the Flyer fan of not really wanting to end the conversation.

That's one of the many reasons for internet forums

Because they don't want to end it. They're not playing the last word game because they don't necessarily want to stop arguing. They can respond to those points and another poster (not the flyers fan) can come debate those responses and so on.
For example, we're not playing the last word game right now because we're still debating. If I were to say something like "But I'm done, it's not worth arguing anymore," then that means I am either trying to end the argument (I won't respond further) or I'm trying to get the last word (I continue responding until they stop, despite what I said). The Flyers fan is the latter.

Some posts were directed towards the Flyers fan though. There were also some follow-up questions towards him, so he really didn't have a chance to let it go despite wanting to. I also guess that's just the difference between you and me. You might have the ability to simply end a debate, but I don't, even if I want to (and I know PinkFloyd and hockeyball are the same). If someone still has follow-up questions or is still questioning my knowledge, I'll continue to post until I get infracted or a mod tells us to stop.
And as I said before, I don't agree with the Flyers fan's opinion on Burns, but I'm not going to go out and type essays trying to convince him otherwise. It's an internet forum, not everyone is going to agree with you and you don't have to convince everyone to.
And this topic has pretty much bit the dust now. I'd say let's end the debate/change topics, but you know I can't.
Unlike in year's past, Sharks still have lots of room to add despite bonus overage. San Jose can add a player now AND and still have enough room for another impact player at the TDL. Shark Tank will be dangerous again this season.

Do you form sentences like news headlines in real life too?
Pretty good signing. HTD if you consider he probably would have gotten 6+ on the open market. Otherwise its nothing eartgshattering, right on the money I'd say.

Now if Wilson wanted to make yet another big move in the trade market, up front, he may consider swapping one of his surplus top six centers, (either Joe Pavelski or Logan Couture) for another speedy winger with 30 goal capabilities.
Bumping this to acknowledge the fact that Shea Weber's arbitration award is not helping my case regarding his salary, at all (still stand by my evaluation of Burns as a player). 5.75m does look better than it did a few hours ago though.
