Do you think Yashin to Detroit is a possibility?

Rumor has it Yashin's agent says a NHL team has interest in him, think it could be Detroit?
Was thinking if they get him that might open a door to trading filppula and hudler to get a better winger, thoughts?

Kenny should go in and sign him out from under snow since he took Nabokov from us haha
Meh kinda thought it was a longshot, but figured with some of the money we had left we could get him and make a move to give our offense a boost, still gonna hold out hope Kenny has something up his sleeve.

I couldn't find a sharp enough pencil to stick in my eye if they even bring up his name in conversation. Please no!

I hope not, but this is exactly the kind of thing KH might consider--- some over the hill forward that was exceptionally skilled once upon a time to plug into the third line. (Modano, Jagr, why not Yashin?)

I was interested in bringing Yashin in before he went to the KHL. Not sure he'd be any good today.

Thats the reason I started thinking of it.

1. Used to be a skilled player- Check!
2. Old- Check
3. Backcock wanting more offense- Check!

Doesn't Yashin have a worse reputation than Fedorov? If so, then no way Kenny and Babs go near that mess.

I hear there's a rumor they might trade Yzerman to get Yashin.

I was going to make this thread to just to make fun of the ridiculousness of the suggestions of HFBoards, but I see someone already beat me to it.

One year, one million? Then do it, it would be a no harm no foul type of thing. I am sure he is not anywhere close to what he used to be and probley wouldnt feature a big upgrade but if the price is right kick the tires.

Were either of those two worse than Jagr?

Almost happened, deal was all lined up, Stevie thought he was moving in October 94. Then there was a bit of a backlash from fans, Stevie bought into Scotty's "program" and Mr I pulled the plug himself (allegedly).

Was beat to the punch on that Michael Scott clip. I'll just use this:

It's not like it would be the end of the world if it was a cheap one year deal, but for some reason, I just wouldn't wanna spend my evenings watching an aging Yashin coasting in a Wings uni.

First of all I don't want Yashin. But he is player whose reputation is FAR worse than he actually is (or was) as a player. Great offensive talent who delivered on some really horrible teams. Guy put up points while playing with trash. Yes, he disappeared in the playoffs. But for instance at least those Islanders teams featuring Yashin were making the playoffs. How many times Isles made it without Yashin? Not once. And they haven't been even close.

He is a guy who gets a lot of crap because Wang threw so much money at him. Same thing goes for B. Campbell. Horrible contract, not a bad player.

Oh... I would rather see Yashin in red and white than Nik Zherdev.

Or Hull or Robataille or Larionov, I hated it when they carried all that old dead weight.

Thant being said, Yashin - NO WAY! Even when he was a good player he was bad for his team.

With his lack of heart and work ethic, Babs would have a coronary by the tenth game of the season.

Yashin, the only player that could actually make Jiri Hudler look good.

Didn't read thread. Answer to thread title: No.

In the offseason before our cup year there was talk that we would pursue Yashin. Wing's managment quickly shot it down with one member of the Wing's brass (most probably Devallano) called Yashin a loser and a cancer. If the wings won't take a risk on a guy like Zherdev, I doubt that they will on Yashin.

With that being said though, I really wouldn't hate it if it was a one year low risk contract. Dude obviously still has talent.

So we bring in Yashin for a week, other GMs start to think Hudler is worth 5 mil, then we trade Hudler for a top forward and add Yashin to the deal in fine print.

This is such a flawed argument whenever it's used. Bringing a known locker room cancer onto the team damn well is a risk. Part of what has made the Wings thrive for such a long time is that ****heads don't get onto the team.
