Colin White gets waived (UPDATE: Signs with San Jose)

I post in the thread about it that I'd like for the Rangers to try to keep him in the area.

I then ask what's his salary like? And comment "Claim him Glen"

I get removed from the conversation.

What kind of pansy ass operation are they running over there where a guy can't partake in a conversation about a player they like that is now available to any team willing to claim him.

Pathetic.

No need to claim either, even if you wanted one of them (the Rangers probably shouldn't).

Lou Lamoriello confirmed that White and Hunter will be bought out if they clear waivers.
No idea why Lou would confirm that, because it basically guarantees that no one claims either.

Not interested in Hunter, but a guy like Colin White can be that mentor to a young Sauer and an up and coming McIlrath.

He's a good defenceman, has alot of experience, he's won a cup. He can help out an otherwise very young defence.

The Rangers could sign White for the next three years to stand on 33rd street while the construction is going on. This way no one will run in to the workers.

White would've been better than Eminger, but that ship has sailed, I want to leave that 4, 5 and 6 spots wide open to compete between Eminger, Valentenko, Erixon, McDonagh, Del Zotto

I would normally be interested in a guy like White, but we need a guy who can play the right side, and given that White has one good eye, I don't think moving him to the other side of the ice would be a good idea.

I'd take White at 3 million over Avery at 1.9 right now.

I like Avery, but I think that the Rupp signing made Avery expendable.

I just don't see a role for Avery in NY anymore.

Move Avery and EC and insert White on the bottom pairing and that's not bad

White hasn't been "good" since he got his eye taken out. He's a bottom pairing defenseman that's prone to errors at this point. Rangers don't have cap space to sign him anyways

See, if I could replace Avery, Eminger and Christensen with White, I would be okay with it. But adding White to all of those players, to me, seems to be wasting A LOT of space.

You sign him after he is bought out... if he has interest.

Adds depth and a solid 3rd, maybe 2nd pairing guy on this team, depending on how McD's second year here goes.

Just the right amount of snarl and size for our 3rd pairing, come to think of it. Likely pushes Eminger to 7th D but actually makes our kids compete for a job, which is good.

Rangers won't sign him though, its been said our roster is set going into camp.

Exactly. If this were a few years ago--sure. Two things--the one you mention about his injured eye. He's been struggling big time since that happened but he was already on a bit of a decline anyway--since the lockout. Pre-lockout--his physical, nasty game along with the Devil's minded approach was a lot easier than post-lockout's speedier game.

Amen.

This guy has been bad for ages... I wouldnt want him on the CT Whale, no less the NHL roster.

I dont know why every one wants to go dumpster diving every time someone hits the trash heap....

What's really funny is how many Devils fans who in recent days think Lou has lost his touch. The pot is boiling over-over on their forum.

I think the day and age of adding vets to the blueline has passed in the NHL. Maybe it's only true come trade deadline to get ready for the playoffs.

With McCabe, Staios, Hannan, Rivet, Campoli, Erskine, Salei, among others still looking for contracts in the NHL,... Seems youth and speed are more desired on the backline.

With Sauer and Mickey D making the team and sticking,... Seems like inexperience is not a big problem anymore. We will have to watch them carefully though in their sophmore year.

I hear from Blueshirt Banters new head guru, MDZ is ready to bust out and quarterback the PP again. This could be good news for Gabby on the break out.

Colin White? Come on. Where is the thread from last July on White being a better player than Girardi?

Too bad that the Devils are getting rid of White. It was fun watching the Rangers shoot around him like he was standing still.

No way do I want a pylon on ice, especially as our 6 should be a relatively mobile group. He was good a long time ago, a very long time ago but he is not good now.

Absolutely not to the idea of claiming/signing White. The game has passed him by.
