Shame, The KHL is where hockey players go to die, just joking, but why would be want to, what a shame.

More money (presumably), less media scrutiny, and close to home? Duh. Zherdev doesn't strike me as the type who dreamt of winning Lord Stanley's mug, so clearly a move to the KHL presents a lot more pros than cons.

The difference is that a lot of them come over and play junior hockey here around their draft. There's a bunch in both minor pro and major junior.
It's funny to see ******** Flyers fans.

This. Add the fact that he can go to the KHL and float around, but still be a star.

That said, I'd love to see him in Detroit on Datsyuk's wing for a few games.

Good riddance. He won't be back. No NHL team will offer him a contract until he straightens out his attitude and puts a single ounce of effort defensively. He is the total enigma.

I think Samsonov would prefer to play in the NHL. With the Sharks perhaps?

it seems very odd that when ever a Russian/European player those not live up to exceptions in the NHL and decides to go back home and play they get abused all the way back home.

Really? Hopefully Atlant doesn't forget to write him his checks.

This guy is where he belongs. No one on this side of the pond wants to pay money to watch this bum anymore.

Winnipeg would have been smart to get Zherdev, as they certainly need more pop up front. He's a proven outscorer, I don't know what all the hate is for.

Meh. The NHL won't miss Zherdev one bit.

True, but at the same time
Roman Derlyuk
Alexei Yemelin
Igor Bobkov
Kirill Kabanov
Dmitri Orlov
Ivan Telegin

all signed NHL deals this year, with Mikhail Pashnin expected to join them some time this summer (And likely Evgeni Kuznetsov and Vladimir Tarasenko sometime next year), so it's not teams have stopped adding Russians altogether.

Really? So what was it about your visit to Moscow that made it so much more appealing than Winnipeg.

Oh, you must mean Atlant is a better run organization...gotcha

Not surprised at all and I also don't blame him.

I don't see why people say he's just chasing the money. Given what's happened the last few years, he's probably worried about his career. A few more seasons like that and he's out of a job. At least in the KHL he can continue his career.

You could say it's all his own fault and you'd be correct, but given the circumstances could anyone fault him for choosing what is literally the best option for him?

Why is it that every time someone signs in the KHL we have people acting like retards in these threads? For a guy that no one cares about there sure is a lot of butt hurt in this thread.

800k in Winnepeg or real money in Moscow? It's a no brainer.

And yes Kovalev and Zherdev are both on Atlant now but neither of them will even be the top scorer on that team.

Probably the leading scorer of Atlant for the last three years, Sergei Mozyakin. Even when Zherdev was on the team in 2010.

But, that cant be right. How can the KHL have players that are better than established NHLers?

Because it's frustrating to watch a guy for a year get paid $2 million to play way worse than he's capable of and have a piss poor attitude?

Worse than he's capable? He's only capable of playing inconsistently. It's part of the player that he is.

Some players dont have the same compete level as others. It doesnt make them lazy. Consistency and compete level are a skill just as much as stickhandling, hockey sense and skating are skills. Some players lack in certain areas. Zherdev's is consistency.

People need to realize that Zherdev is not capable of playing at his highest level night in and night out, and every Flyers fan should have known that way back in August of last year when we signed him.

Sergey Mozyakin signed with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Btw, Mozyakin isn't so great. Yep, very good domestic scorer but always a choker in National Team, and overall a rather slow player. He is kinda like a smaller Marcel Hossa.
