Biggs missing the cut is a shock, but not nearly as much of one as him being drafted at 22

Truculence isn't nearly as important in the world juniors as it is on the Leafs.

Not really surprised that Boucher didn't make the cut, but I'll be shocked and disappointed if he doesn't make the team next year.

No surprise that Merrill made it, of course.

Lack of 3G here.

3-0 Sweden through 2 periods.
Merrill looked nervous early. Some bad passes, but solid D.
Lots of neutral zone/offensive zone turnovers for the US.

Do you know who scored for Sweden?

I heard they have some interesting forwards that might be good to draft next year.

Judging from the roster: http://usahockey.cachefly.net/Media/...JEC_Sweden.pdf

The only 2012 eligible forwards they brought over were '92s who went undrafted in 2010 and 2011.

I guess you're right. Usually players that are going to be drafted aren't on the U20 team.

I do not, sorry. No names on jerseys.

4-1 final, Agostino for US on the PP.

TJ Miller is gonna be a thorn in our sides. Think Ryan Callahan.

Fillip Forsberg (SP) is a guy that will probably be a 1st rounder this year.

Forwards Nicholas Shore, Connor Brickley, Austin Watson and Emerson Etem, defenseman Jonathan Merrill and goalie Jack Campbell are the scratches. Connor Murphy will not play due to a knee injury.
Merrill is a scratch for today's game, but that could just be to give other players a chance to play.

Etem is scratch too, so I tend to think you`re right.

He played on the first pair yesterday and in all situations. Plus they have probably been skating all week. I'm sure he's just tired.

Iirc I'm pretty sure I read somewhere (probably from Adam Kimelman, who follows the camp for nhl.com) that every player would get a rest at some point during the camp. They're playing a lot of games in a short space of time, I'm sure he'll be back for the remaining games.

Iles started in net, so I am absolutely certain they're just resting the top tier players (nothing against Andy, who I absolutely love because he plays for Cornell).

He's going to be a good one. I'm waiting for his Scrivens moment when he usurps the current starter's job, like Scrivens did to Davenport.

Interview with Sarnia head coach Jacques Beaulieu with some tidbits about Reid Boucher. Here's a rough transcription:

Quote:
Q: The other American that you're bringing that played with the USNDTP last year is Reid Boucher. He described himself as a tenacious forechecker, two way guy. What do you expect out of him?"

A: The thing with Reid is that we're going to play him with Nail [Yakupov] and Alex [Galchenyuk]. We know he's a pure shooter and goal scorer. And scores timely goals, if you look as his career so far, he's scored some big goals for USA Hockey. I think he had a good camp with Jersey this year and I think Jersey is pretty happy about his decision to come to Sarnia because of the fast track to the NHL. We're expecting some huge things out of him, I think he's another guy that could score 30 to 40. Playing with those two guys, he's going to get opportunities. Those two guys love to pass the puck and he loves to shoot, so it's a pretty good mixture. He's tenacious, he's puck hungry, he likes to get in on the forecheck and there's a little bite to his game too. He plays a hard brand of hockey.

Boucher will do well to be coached by Beaulieu, who deserves a TON of credit for Saint John's Mem Cup win. And not just for spawning Nathan.
