Bruins fan trade proposal: Shea Weber for Dougie Hamilton?

Would you guys countenance a trade like that? Weber, great defenseman, but a shutdown guy and maybe little expensive, for Hamilton, who's a year or so away from the majors but supremely talented and projects as an easy #1 talent, and is more balanced than Weber. Can help you in more different areas.

Anyone up for that kinda deal? Maybe throw in Johnny Boychuk as a sweetener and placeholder until Hamilton's ready?

No.

I'd prefer to pay for the proven over potential. We're really not as poor as everyone thinks. Shea's salary is in the budget. The stickler was contract length--NP brass wanted years, he wanted year.

Does the math change if Brad Marchand finds his way into the deal? Cause I've seen that bandied around on the Bruins forum.

Not for me. He's a good player, but Shea's homegrown. I want our team to do what it set out to do in 1998--build a team from the ground up. Nothing against the players mentioned. Bringing any of them in somehow without trading the core would be okay, of course. ;-)

At this point Weber is only traded for another superstar like Ryan, Parise, etc.

By next summer it might be different...

Nashville has no incentive to trade Weber for a prospect. They have the money for Weber, it's all about his desire to stay, so there's no need to "salary dump." If he's traded, it would be for a similarly priced player with a longer deal that wants to be around.

Not even close.

You're talking about a Norris finalist that has another year of restricted free agency. If the Bruins aren't willing to give up Krejci or Lucic, we have nothing to discuss.

A prospect with throw-ins is in no way getting Weber. Not even close.

I don't see any reason why we would make this trade, sorry.

No.

And I know Boston won't let go of Bergeron. The only people I would be interested in on Boston would be Krejci or Horton.

Oh, c'mon. It's not quite that bad. I'm confident you'd only get infracted.

Counterproposal:

Ryan Ellis for David Krejci

I would give you some stupid explanation to rationalise it, but it doesn't exist.
