Do you throw your hat on the ice when there is a hat-trick?

I Love my team but Im usually the guy that doesnt do it. Between the ticket prices, beer and pizza, I cant really afford to just throw a $30 hat on the ice.

A funny thing happened one time when I was at a game. A hatty was scored and a random fan grabbed another guys hat and threw it on the ice instead of his own. He was so shocked at someone grabbing it from him, he dropped his beer trying to block the guy from grabbing his hat. Lotta money down the drain right there!

Maybe you should always bring an old, cheap hat to games

I love my hats too much to just throw them away. That said, if I go to a game this year I might bring a disposable one in case Kessel gets another one.

Well that depends, If your rocking a brand new Leafs snapback or fitted, I suggest hiding it when a hat trick comes, but if you have a bunch of old hats be free to dispose of it and have it possibly shown on TV.

I know it Ottawa you can get them back, I remember reading this around 3 years ago. They sit in custom service for a bit after the game and if nobody claims them i assuming they donate them.

If I was wearing my old hat that I bought in the overpass between Giants Stadium and Continental Airlines Arena that I bought for $5 from some sketchy people I would.

But there's no way in hell I'm throwing my official, fitted Reebok Devils hat that cost me $25 on the ice (unless of someone absolutely ridiculous gets a hat trick and it's the only hat I have on me).

I'm usually in the 300s so I wouldn't even reach the ice if I tossed my hat.

It's happened a couple times since I started going to games.

Never saw one live except at an All Star Game, but I wasn't wearing a hat and was seated too far for it to have reached anyway. Not that it matters, I'm not throwing a well-liked hat onto the ice.

I can see STH not doing it or bringing a cheapo, but if you don't make it to a lot of games then hell yes you should.

I would let everyone else throw their hats, and then if a double hat-trick is scored, I still have my hat to throw at that time!

I mean, that would be disappointing to score a double hat-trick and not see any hats on the ice...

You're not supposed to bring your best hat to a hockey game, this is a golden rule that should be passed from father to son?

Is there any chance at getting your hat back if you do throw it?

I always thought they put all hats thrown in like a lost and found bin or something then after the game you can go and look for your hat. People would probably just steal hats though but still

Yes, and I'm always strongly tempted to grab the hat of someone who's not throwing it and throw it for them.

I always thought it would be great to throw a sombrero or something funny on the ice.
