According to law enforcement sources, a neighbor called police to complain about the noise coming from Avery's home. When police arrived at about 1:00 AM, we're told Avery answered the door ... then shoved a cop and slammed the door behind him.
Police then knocked again, and we're told Avery came to his senses and opened up. According to law enforcement ... Avery was extremely cooperative after that, but was still booked for battery on a peace officer.
He was taken to the Hollywood police station and is being held on $20,000 bail.
Who calls the police to complain about noise? That's LA for you. Don't those crime fighters have more pressing issues?
The rules are the rules and the law is the law, I would not expect crosby, ovechkin or kovalchuk to get different treatment. If the cops show up, don't punch em. This is what kids are supposed to see happen to avery, pay the consequences.
Its not the peoples' fault, Avery knew the area before he hosted that party plain and simple and he must have had a history or long emwinded screaming match to get arrested!
It's Avery's fault, IT'S AVERY'S FAULT HE'S IN JAIL!!!!!!!!!!
And for that I say thank you LAPD for doing what the NHL wouldn't do
People with jobs who want to be sleeping at 1 A.M rather than hearing drunk people shouting.
This. I actually like Avery but I'd be pretty angry if noise coming from his place was keeping me awake.
Had to LOL, though, at the NBC NewYork article bringing up the "sloppy seconds" thing. Not quite sure how that relates to this, but I never get tired of hearing about it!

Who is so completely egocentric as to blare music and noise at 1 am without consideration for the people who live around them?
There are such things as elderly people, children, people (such as police) who work shift work, and just plain old people who want to sleep for selfish reasons like they've worked their butts off and want some rest.
It's fine in University. In the "real world" you have to think about people other than yourself.
Well I mean, you can't shove a police officer: obviously.
That being said, it's really, REALLY not a big deal.
In all likelihood, someone was probably doing coke (I am not speculating that it was Avery) and he didn't want the cop to see so he closed the door, got the person to get rid of it, then "came to his senses".
Was this in the house or an apartment? If this would happen to Sean in Russia he would give $100 to the cup and close the door behind him to continue partying. ****ing corruption.

I almost positive that is exactly what happened. Agree 100%.

Nah, the normal bribe rate for that is more like 15$. 35$ at best... Russia...

Don't they need a search warrant to enter the house, noise or not?
