never said it was... Avery should be glad the LAPD didn't send a SWAT team of 20 masked copers that shot him "in self-defense", rattling him with 200+ shells
Interesting how you guys rag on Avery for people partying and POSSIBLY doing drugs at his house but applaud Theo Fleury's efforts while it was CONFIRMED that he was drinking and doing drugs before, during, and after his games with the Rangers.
please find where i evaluated his skill set at all.
"He's more trouble than he's worth and he's not a terrible effective hockey player anymore. That's the bottom line and it's not overreacting. I thought he was a marginal roster player before this went down. I now think it's a great opportunity to cut ties and move on."
You: "over reacting"
So, clearly you want him on the team regardless of this incident - which implies that you think he can bring something to this team on the ice which implies that you believe he has skills. Or, is it his intangibles? His sense of humor? Or what? What about the above do you disagree with and why?
Well the headline doesn't mention anything about who was there does it? That was a theory put forth by a poster. If that actually were the case it wouldn't be common knowledge. As you said, it'd be between him and the team. So, yeah, there is a difference between those two things but "getting headlines" because of it isn't happening so the difference is sort of meaningless.
I don't remember, how did Chicago's season turn out when Kane, a guy who is much more "the face of the team" there than Avery is here, brought them all that bad press?
I dont know if you read the whole post, but my original post was a response to a poster saying it was ok and that he probably just covered for someone partying and using drugs at his house. I just said that it wasnt.
As for press, it seems like it already got plenty. So yeah, it does give bad press whatever the reason Avery thought he had to shove the police officer. That itself shows bad judgement and is pretty idiotic to say the least.
As for Kane and Chicago, I do not care, it is not my team.
People who have noting better to do than judge how much "classier" they are than some athlete they have never met. None of you know how this went down. He plays for your favorite hockey team and that's where it ends. I bet all you "classy" individuals are upset about a-rod playing a damn poker game too. Get your own life and stop judging what people do with theirs.

why dont you quote all of your post that i replied over reacting too. horrible. your not good at this.

Skewed perceptions? Nawwww! No way!!
Not doing that at all. Just saying that pushing a police officer and slamming the door in their face is not OK even if he has a house full of illegal immigrants working in there.
The only thing I am saying is that it was a stupid, dumb move, and that it joins the other idiotic things he has done.
You can't tell me why you want Avery on the team (which my post clearly addressed). That's how good I am at this. You lose.
this isnt about why i want avery on the team. this is about his situation last night and some peoples over reaction to it. i have never seen someone reach so far to make a point. from quoting a dictionary to using my comment of your over reacting as an evaluation of his skill set. terrible dude. dont you find this embarrasing?
im in law enforcement and the police dont have to have a warrant to come into your home unless they are searching for something specific. you can enter a home for other reasons we wont get into but just so you know...
You might want to brush up on your law then
There are only 4 reasons why the police can enter someones home without a warrant.
1. Consent. The person who controls the dwelling invites or allows the police to enter
2. Plain View
3. Search incident to arrest
4. Exigent Circumstances
In a situation where the police are responding to a noise complaint they do not have any justification to enter the home (Indiana you are screwed). Scary how many people here think the police can just do whatever the hell they want. They want you to believe that so you will not object to them entering (assumed consent). Be calm, be polite, do not physically resist. Meet them on the porch, hallway etc and close the door behind you.
And something else to consider here, especially for all those people defending Avery right now....Adam Graves father is a retired police officer from Toronto. And Adam Graves is very pro police. And how involved is Graves with the Rangers still?

And Avery acted how? If cops every show up to your house god forbid, why dont you try acting like Avery did and slam the door in their face and call them fat pigs..thats called disorderly conduct and interfering in an investigation. Probable Cause for an arrest right there.
