Baseball, soccer or lacrosse? What would you like to see the most? I think my choice would be lacrosse
My brother coaches college lacrosse and was an All-American. I tried to follow in his footsteps, but sucked. Really bad. I do love the sport and would love to see it gain popularity.
Professional lacrosse would fail here, miserably. It doesn't have nearly the following at the collegiate or even high school level that it does in North Carolina.
Personally, if we're going for a summer sport, I want to see us gun for an MLS team. If Atlanta and Miami are still targets, Nashville could be a very good option for the league, just so long as the club isn't marketed almost exclusively to soccer moms like the Revolution. Besides that, an MLS side could then theoretically start up a lacrosse team like Sporting Kansas City aspires to, meaning we could theoretically get MLL and MLS in one stadium. That'd be something.
Lacrosse is my favorite of the three (huge Syracuse fan), but I think baseball would do the best here.
Speaking of which, this series against the Red Sox is giving me a pressure headache. On the bright side the Yankees have trained me for any intensity Preds playoff runs might bring.
I'm assuming most baseball fans in Nashville and all of Tennessee for that matter are Braves fans because of proximity. Is that right?
Not necessarily. East Tennessee is largely Braves country with small pockets of fans of other clubs due to the minor league teams present, but West Tennessee has a lot of Cardinals fans from proximity and the presence of the Memphis Redbirds. Middle Tennessee is whoever you feel like bandwagoning for at the time. I've seen more than a few Reds games pop up on TV.
Personally, I couldn't care less about the Braves or the Cardinals or any other team, although we get Braves games on the radio here in JC (which are worth listening to solely to hear Jim Powell ply his trade). The only Major League team I would be inclined to follow would be one based in Nashville.
Ahh yes, Jim Powell. He worked with Bob Uecker for about 10 years with the Brewers on the radio. Loved listening to him call the few innings he would get.
Thoughts on Finnegan leaving Titans training camp Friday night with no explanation, not returning phone calls from the team or the media to either he or his agent, and now this morning trying to blame the media for making it into a story and report that he was holding out?
Both Reinfeldt, Munchak, and even teammates publicly commented yesterday that they were disappointed that Finnegan left and were under the impression this was a contract dispute.
IMO, Finnegan made a bad decision here for whatever reason (contract or personal) and is now trying to get back in with as little damage as possible, but to try to scapegoat the media?!?!?!?!? What is he thinking???

I take every opportunity to blame the media for anything I can so I can't really get mad at him.
I left a party one time without saying goodbye to anyone. Within 48 hours I apparently hated everyone there and had to leave because I was about to kick someone's a**. All I really wanted was to go to bed.
It wouldn't have been a big deal for him to grab a coach and say, "Hey, man I gotta run because ___________." But he didn't. The Titans are the locals media's hobby so they watch them like hawks and this little deal got big attention.
It's just not THAT critical yet from the news stories I was reading he was about to jump ship and go play in Canada.
