Really? REALLY? Saying "Canuck's" instead of "Canucks" by accident is elementary and annoying? Geez, am I glad I am not friends with any of you squares in real life. Lighten up.
Not to mention, that one one giant run on sentence. And you were missing a few words.
Not that I think correcting grammar isn't slightly pretentious, but come on people, we're adults on this site, we should be able to spell correctly and use proper grammar; if not for the sake of everyone reading it, at least do it for yourself so you don't look the art of written communication is too much for you to comprehend. It just makes it annoying to read when we have people typing with elementary school grammar skills.
On topic, people that hate Burrows will remember the bite, people that like Burrows or the Canucks will remember his two epic OT goals, plus all the other good stuff that he's done for the team. That's just the way it works. No way he's overrated though. He never even gets any praise on this forum, how could he possibly be overrated?
Hey .. Funboys... Get a room.
Take your topic elsewhere.
Burrows could not be classified as overrated ... intangibles ! intangibles !
I would love to get a peak at what he could do on another team, because it's very evident from his play he helps the Sedins a couple notches for sure.
And rumour has it the guy he crosschecked insulted Luc Bourdon. Yeah, Burrows crosschecked him, but I really doubt most people would be able to hold back if he insults your dead best friend.
And I worded the contract bit wrong. He didn't ask for anything more. He took what the team offered him because, paraphrasing.. "I know my role on the team and I'm happy to take whatever the team feels I'm worth". He wasn't looking to cash in. He was looking to stay in the league.
Is that you making something up to justify?
Just curious.
there was a sabres fan in another thread who didn't know burrows was one of the best PKing wingers in the league and was legitimately shocked that he finished top fifteen in selke voting two years in a row. so no, i don't think he's overrated.
i get it, vancouver games are on late. but when a team makes a deep playoff run, there's no excuse for hockey fans not to know more about the team's unsung heroes. burrows and kesler on the PK was a thing of beauty last spring. take away the big goals and that was still one hell of a playoff run by alex.
That was seriously the biggest goal in Canucks history? ****
He said goals.
Overtime goal in game seven in the presidents trophy winning season against the team that eliminated them the prior two seasons. Overtime goal in Stanley Cup final. Yeah, those are huge goals for a team that's never won the cup wouldn't you say?
Hate Burrows as a player, but he is very good. One of the better two way forwards in the league and probably one of the most versatile players in the league also. Can play from lines 1-4, scoring role, checking role, PK role, PP role and can play both RW/LW. At the price of 2 mil, that is a huge bargain.
Burrows just does so many things well. He's a very special player and one of the more complete in the NHL.
Is he a product of the Sedins? Perhaps... but those two also put up back-to-back Art Ross winning seasons in his first two full-time seasons on their line. They are a perfect compliment to eachother.
There isn't a GM in the league who would pass on a guy him.
But no, he's not overrated. He might be underrated becuase of people saying he's a by-product of the Sedins... Who knows, maybe he can play without them... We just haven't seen in a while.
