I've always been curious about 'deflections' and finding a Tomas Holmstrom type player who will park his butt in front of the net and get deflection goals. Is there a certain type of player that will do this?
I don't "watch" many of the games so I was curious how to develop a player like that.
Anyone know of any recent facepacks of last year's draft class? It's the last totally non-regen, non-fiction group of the game, and there are a lot of players who don't have pictures that could if someone was still doing it. I've been to the Blueline, but they are all updates of NHL players.
Talk about bad luck. Conference semi finals, "won" 0-5 (playing as oilers) but had to forfeit the game because my no.1 goalie (Rinne) got misconduct in the 3rd period for fighting (full line brawl) with Bernier and then this happened:

Also lost the series.
Wow that's horrible. Too bad the game wasn't smart enough to let you just go with an empty net for the last minute.
Couldn't you try to pull the goalie for the rest of the game?
I'm not sure because I don't coach games myself, just making tactics and lineups for the head coach. However, my guess would be there's no choice but to forfeit. After all it's just a game.
I'd for sure screen cap that for the laughs but then I'd consider about ending the process and trying again... but hey, if you stayed true to it that sucks.

On the powerplay, use the umbrella setting and put that player at center (if this player isn't a center, make sure to use a center at another position and set him to take face-offs). They'll stand in front of the net.

I can't wait to get home and test this. If it works and is awesome, I will love you.
^ Only possible if the player decides to hang around as staff himself, then you can sign him as any other unemployed staff member.
Time for the 2011 draft class - this time with real NHLers!
30th:
This guy I had high hopes for, unfortunately I didn't notice he's fickle and signed him to an eternal contract at 1.5M. He didn't play very well as #4 and is #6 now, barely. Disappointing, but compared to previous drafts he's better than anyone not named Wilson or Repkin, and is at least solid NHLer.
60th:
Obvious Irbe regen is obvious. He wasn't even ranked by the CBS, but already had good skills. He's been backing up Ward, now he's platooning with him, and after next season he should be the #1 as Ward will almost certainly be gone. Excellent pick.
90th:
I had hopes for this guy being Bondra or Satan regen or something, but I don't think he's anything like that. Not much skills outside scoring, but fairly solid play in AHL... well he got a few seasons as 13th forward in, so he's not a horrible pick. Kinda disappointing though.
120th:
A guy who's also largely one-trick pony, this time of the passing variety. Spent a few seasons in the bottom-6 and wasn't totally out of place, but he's just a tweener and more suited to being good AHL scorer I guess.
150th:
First true fail of the draft. Never developed a bit.
180th:
I also had hopes for this guy, as bottom pairing d-man, but he failed to develop at all as well.
210th:
What, no retirement? Actually played very well in ECHL but never developed his skills either. Oh well.
It saddens me that the game isnt avaiable to buy anymore. I was a HUGE fan of EHM 2005/2007.
Just sad I can't play the game anymore, my old HDD went down with all my files, including my 3rd and last retail use to download the game. Reading the thread makes me want to play this game like never before ...
Anyone has an extra code number for the game? Me love you long time!

No, but they would have sent you an e-receipt to your email address. It should be from elicense. Send them an email and they should be able to give you a new code.

Sadly, I've bought the game when it came out (2007 one). Used all my 3 license since then. The fact that I dont have my receipt no more sucks a lot
23 days in, and the whole 1st and 4th lines are on the IR. Epic, especially Staal breaking his ankle for 4 moths out.
Edit: 7 days later, things get even better!
This is the season for busts toiling in AHL to get their 15 minutes of fame in the NHL (I actually prefer to call up the lesser prospects for short-term fix duty)

Wow that's a lot of injuries early on. I sometimes don't mind that because then if I miss the playoffs one year I can potentially get a top 10 pick.
I'm pretty pumped right now. Philly is 15th in the east and just sold me Pitkanen for John Michael Liles and a 4th. Liles is up there for d-men in points but I'm always a fan of Pitkanen who's 28 or 29 right now and Liles was more a product of my roster than him just being great. Also got Jason Arnott for a decent prospect heading into the deadline. I'm not going to re-sign him as he wants $5.7 mil a year but hey for the playoffs, he will be great. He had 9 points in his first 2 games
How do you like that, TSN
I'm really enjoying GMing the Avalanche.
Also, something funny happened in my game. Canada won the WJC as usual but second place was... Germany. Kind of shocked me. Russians won bronze but I was just shocked... how did Germany get there!

Thats not a big surprise. In my game it occurred few times, that Kazachstan won WJC.
