I started an ECHL game and just found out that I can only sign staff to up to 2 year contracts and can't extend the one year contracts in any way. What kind of sick joke is this?
I can live with the one year player contracts because I can just negotiate new option year after every season, but not being able to sign staff for longer than two years is just horribly stupid
Edit: Habsfan18, what graphical pack are you using, I like that greyish look along with the new player icons.
Make sure he dominates, it can be deceiving sometimes with younger prospects because they can appear that they are ready for the big leagues. Look at my Jagr regen in the AHL 142points before I called him up and then he only got 59 in his rookie season, of course he was playing 2nd line for almost everything that season but still had stats in the green.
Even as a defensemen (as in dominate for points)? What would be considered a dominating number for a d-man in the AHL? Anything over/close to PPG? I will for sure leave him down there for 1 full season.
I don't have control over my AHL team, I was hoping it would be alright as he's already considered one of their top 3 players so I assume he will get good ice time.
Maybe I should take over and ensure they have a good head coach in case it's not?

I really can't think of any reason why you wouldn't control your AHL team. It takes virtually no effort and you can make sure all your players are handled how you want them to be.
And Habsfan, how do you get so lucky with developing (then signing guys for steal contracts ). I'm just starting my 2nd season with the new Lidas DB with the Habs and I managed to cheat the AHL age-restriction and I sent Nathan Beaulieu down at 19 (as he just dominates the Q at 18, he had over 100 pts for me). I'm wondering if I should leave him down for 2 years, then if his rating is over 8, call him up?
I just make sure I don't rush them into the NHL. Most players, I'll let them play out their entire junior career, then at least 2 seasons in the AHL. Unless they're absolute phenoms, be patient with them. Take a look at Isaksson for instance. He played very well as a teenager in the SEL, yet I still gave him 2 seasons in the WHL with plenty of ice time to get accustomed to North American hockey. He destroyed the competition and I think he's better player for it.
As for getting lucky with that contract, I have no idea. I thought it would definitely cost more. I do all of my extensions the off-season before their contract is about to expire though, so that may have something to do with it I suppose.

Well for example I have a defensemen Baskirov(Zubov regen) I let him stay one year in the Russian league then I signed him and brought him over with a bunch of my prospects to the AHL. He then put up 89points in 80 games and though he didn't win AHL dman of the year he won MVP . But because his positioning is still only 5 and his hitting is only 6, and even though all his other attributes are really good, I won't bring him up because those attributes will get exposed. So not only do they have to preform well but make sure they don't have glaring weakness' like that, I mean he is a dman and 2 of his defensive attributes are in the red. He is great physicaly though and played with many other good regens so I think that is why he played so well.

When you control your AHL team, are you constantly working/re-working the lineups or just letting the coach decide? I've just barely gotten into setting personal and unit tactics myself. I haven't gotten into controlling practice yet. I need to learn how to set up a proper workout regimen. For the most part, if I play at all on an evening I will usually sim a couple months at a time (and I know you're one of those who probably stays on a single day for a longer time and puts in more effort).
And thanks for the advice guys.
To Habsfan: I know Richie has mentioned by placing them in leagues where they're not on the top lines, their rep won't go as high then you can sign them to longer contracts for cheaper (which would mean less junior time if they're dominating).

So, you can control the AHL team without resigning from your NHL job?
Might seem like a dumb question, but I never tried.

I do my own line-ups, but I just pretty much set and forget unless there's an injury. I don't pay nearly as much attention to tinkering with lines and such with the AHL team.... just as long as the guys I want to get playing time are getting playing time and that they're on the practice schedule I want, it's good enough.

Indeed.
Okay I getcha. Thanks a ton, I signed up for Hamilton and made sure my prospects are getting ice time.
I find they bust for me. My goaltenders will have really stupid stats like 22 ties.
My Khabibulin regen just had like 60 wins with quick sim AHL games and is on another 50+win campaign this season, so it can work but my team does have some other pretty good regens on it as well.
Just one extra h.
He is Islanders 7th round pick 2019.
I've always wondered if I'd see a regen with the name of a famous player. I'd probably draft him regardless just for ***** and giggles and hope they'd pan out alright.
one of my goalies in AHL had 30 shootouts in the season 2204/2205
He had a few shutouts too!
When being an NHL team, I always leave AHL, ECHL and CHL on at least standard, otherwise they become "static" leagues...no playoffs, no backup goalies, etc. and I feel it hurts development in my experience. As an "active" league, I think it's...better... (yeah, nice sentence, very thought-provoking)
I swear I dont control my AHL team, I was going to leave him in the AHL for another with my created player who just lost the memorial cup finals with Halifax.
