And how exactly does his post reflect that sentiment? And what kind of asinine logic did you use to assert that point? Furthermore, what does a Hawks fan's recognition of team history and lore have anything to do with a thread discussing the Hawks offense in 2011-2012?
It's a sad tradition. One that Detroit fans hardly acknowledge as "good fun" or part of the rivalry.
Cheer your team. Don't focus your energy on talking about how much your rival sucks, especially a team that has been the class of consistency for the past two decades.
It was even worse when the team wasn't even making the playoffs.
I'm not one of the fans who does it, but it adds a ton to the atmosphere of a Wings/Hawks game in Chicago. Especially now that the latter team is on par with the former.
I don't doubt that the chant itself was created out of jealousy. Can you really blame Hawk fans for that? Our team sucked for so many years, and we got to see your Red Wings roll into town fairly often... a team that was, and really still is, the portrait of fantastic management and the resulting great on-ice product.
Add in the fact that the Wings are a natural rival for the Hawks due to the geographical locations of the two teams, and the chant is perfectly understandable.
I don't condone it but I don't want it to disappear either. It's a part of the Blackhawk's tradition, and most of the fans love it. That's just the way it's always going to be.
Funny how your recollection of Hawks history, like a majority of your fans, goes back to about 2008.
Just as funny as the silly assertion that the majority of the fans only go back to 2008. Comedy all around in this thread from both sides.
As for the Detroit Sucks thing....I get it but I've always thought it was kind of silly. If it's said at the game while playing Detroit, whatever, fans are fans. But anywhere else it's just goofy, but it's one of those things that will always be around. To each their own.
