Calgary can change their prospect pool for the better soon-But they better wake-up and start moving on it now.

Flames, they need to retain picks and keep acquiring prospects... their oldest core in the league isn't going to get any younger if they stay status quo.

I'd say Calgary (trading their number 1 prospect Tim Erixon was dumb), my Wings , Pens, Sharks, Jets.

It certainly wasn't their first choice.

I like the Ducks.. but I think their prospect pool is extremely meh.

Looking at the HF rankings.... they're really bad.

Yeah totally stupid to trade him for three quality assets instead of letting him re-enter the draft.

Horak
Wotherspoon
Granlund

for

Erixon

We have three chances for a quality NHL'er.

Sorry, did not know he didn't want to play in Calgary.

Now that's just the homer in you talking. I'll take a stud prospect over 3 average ones any day.

Obviously, but considering the Flames had very little leverage when trading Erixon, we got a pretty good deal.

It's likely that none of those players will turn into anything special, but they have some potential. I mean, people were complaining in this thread for the Flames trading a 5th rounder. Two 2nd rounders + Horak could be something, someday, maybe.

Yeah Erixon screwed you guys, the whole situation was messed up. But that poster seems like he's just trying to justify the whole deal as a win for Calgary. You guys got a good deal for having your backs against the wall but losing Erixon definitely hurts big-time.

The guys you got in exchange for Erixon will probably be unlikely to become impact players or even NHL regulars. Even if they do happen to become NHL caliber players, they're probably 4-5 years away. Erixon is pretty much ready to play on the bottom pairing at a cheap cap hit and will probably improve with Tortorella's system.

He also has Lundqvist to mentor him.

It's funny that as soon as Erixon leaves Calgary, he's such a great prospect. He never got that respect when he was with Calgary. That's how it is with all Flames prospects. People here are saying Bartschi is nothing to write home about, but if he was on a different team it would be a different story.

They are one of the best teams in the AHL, Philly is atrocious.

They all played well in the NHL last year. The Penguins have tremendous depth in their farm system and it has already been proven.

Not true. I think Bartschi can be a good top 6 winger if he can overcome his size problem. Besides, it's not like Rangers fans are pimping him up to be the next Lidstrom, we pretty much expect him to play like a bottom pairing defenseman next year with the potential to become a #4 or #3 guy. Sort of like Douglas Murray.

As much as I hate to admit it, the Penguins are absolutely stacked in defenseman. In the NHL level, they have arguably the best core in the league. In the AHL, they have Sneep, Depres, Strait and in the CHL they have Morrow and Harrington.

San Jose. AINEC.

Pitiful FWD corps got even worse when Coyle was traded.

I dont know about that, I see him being penciled in on your top PP unit on a ton of projections.

He didn`t want to play anywhere but New York. Or do you think it was just a coincidence that he got traded to his father`s old team?

Tim Erixon, his family, and his agent knew full well which team he would play for, even before he was drafted. I wouldn`t be surprised if Sather was in on it too.

Of course, that won`t stop people from trying to spin it like it was Calgary`s fault he was traded. In truth, the same thing would have happened if it were any other team but the Rangers.
