Dallas-Buffalo

Dallas:Jason Pominville, Luke Adam, 2012 1st

Buffalo:Mike Ribeiro

Ribeiro is a top 15 center and commands a hefty return, Pominville is a consistent 65 point Two Way RW, Luke Adam just won AHL Roty and is projected as a 2nd line center, and a 1st is nice in a deep draft. Is this a good return for Ribeiro?

Yes, Ribeiro can definitely be considered a top 15 center. He only makes 5 mil, but can be depended on 70+ points a season and would be a great 1B center to compliment Roy.

Take out Adam or the 1st and I'd consider it. I don't think the difference between JP and Ribeiro is that much.

Don't even consider it because Dallas hangs up. Ribeiro is our #1C and consistently puts up underrated numbers (70+ pts). He's been in the top 11 in scoring in 3 of the last 4 season (he was injured one season and missed a bunch of games). In addition, his contract is very manageable.

Seriously, after losing Richards you think the Stars would trade their #1B?

Fair enough. The main point I was making was that I wouldn't move a 1st and Adam on top of Pominville. Around here and by Sabres fans Pominville is just as underrated. I understand the weakness that Dallas would create by moving Ribeiro.

I don't think Ben Affleck in "The Town" could even pull off a heist like that. Highway robbery for Dallas.

If you turn the 1st rounder into a 2nd rounder, then I'd seriously consider this on a sabres point of view.

But Dallas won't do this because they can't afford losing another center.

No way, the only thing I like about Mike Ribeiro is watching him laying on the ice kicking and grabbing his chest while faking an injury. Terrible actor but good hockey player.

Terrible acting? Didn't Montreal get a powerplay? I'd say it's the exact opposite.

Come on now? You must be a sabres fan. Ribeiro is there best center, only true legit center. Never going to happen.

Excuse my ignorance but when did Rebeiro ever become a top 15 center?

And no Buffalo doesn't do this, Ribeiro is getting up there in age and Buffalo isn't in a strictly win now mode, Miller is still pretty young for a goalie and most of their forwards and d core is relatively young.

Too much to give from Buffalo and Dallas relies on Ribiero to the extent that an overpayment would be required.

Not true - ownership has stated its goal is three years for a cup.

Another reason Buffalo doesn't do this is because of cap reasons. It only takes .3 million off their cap for next year when they have to re-up Myers and Ennis and even worse, they lose Adam, who is probably making the team and providing a cheap option at forward next season.

Nothing against Pominville or Adam, but with Richards gone, we need to keep Ribeiro, especially since he's now on his 6th season with us and has good chemistry with Morrow and Eriksson, and we're hoping bringing in his old linemate, Ryder can help his game further.

That said, there are way too many pieces from Buffalo's side. Buffalo doesn't do this strictly from a "talent for talent" POV.
