IMO Jokinen was never a good option for the Habs. He needs PP time to produce, and we already have plenty of players who can do that job. A forward who can score at ES would be a better fit.

Leino has only played in 149 NHL games and put up 73 points. However, over the last two season he has put up 26 pointa in 30 playoff games.
What is even more crazy is Leino, while I am calling him a top 6, has played on the Red Wings and Flyers where he hasn't been a top 6 all the time and has gotten very little power play time. Prior to this last season Leino had a total of 1 NHL power play goal in the regular season. This season he netted 5 of his career high 19 on the power play. In the playoffs Leino has 1 power play goal in his NHL career..but I remember it. It came last year against the Sabres in round one and was the first power play goal the team had after a ton of missed opportunities. In last year's playoffs Leino put up 21 points in 19 games for the Flyers. He had two game winning goals...but ZERO power play goals.

Gauthier should take a long look at signing this low risk high reward forward who is know healthy. If any of you remember his dominant play for the Bulldogs will agree this hitting machine is worth a shot with us. 6'' 4'' and can is a great skater, which means he can hit who evers he wants not like Laraque.
Yeah, I remember him from Hamilton. He is a hitting machine, but the reason he hasn't been able to make a difference in the NHL is poor hockey sense. Doesn't do a lot offensively. Is not that good defensively. He might be worth a look if he accepted a two-way deal.
Also, apparently the Oilers sent an injured forward to the LAK in that Smyth deal. Fraser didn't pass his medical. It doesn't sound like the deal is going to be undone, but the Oilers may send another asset to them. First, they tried to send another injured player in Gilbert and then they sent an injured player in Fraser. lol Well done, Oilers!
Looks like this UFA period will be more dry than anything I remember.
No. It's gonna be awesome to see a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners, bottom pairing d-men and backup goalies get fat contracts. Like watching a car accident...

This is so true, it's going to be hilarious. Imagine Vokoun getting $7m+ in a bidding war between the Avs and Yotes. Then imagine Ville Leinno get $5m in a bidding war between Florida and NYI tring to get to the floor.
