Main Card:
Middleweight Championship: Anderson Silva (c) vs. Yushin Okami

I'm going out on a huge limb here, however I think Okami will not screw around with the strikes and just go out there and work for a decision. It may be boring, but I think it could happen. That said, we remember what happened to Chael when he got tired and sat on top of Silva......

Light Heavyweight bout: Maurício "Shogun" Rua vs. Forrest Griffin

Shogun will continue his yo-yo ways with good fight/bad fight, and I think he takes out Forrest in the 2nd via TKO. I would love to see Forrest win this fight, but I just don't think he's at the same place he was a few years ago when he won the belt.

Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub

Schaub is a beast, and as much as I love Big Nog, his days are behind him. I have strong doubts this goes to the ground, and I think Schaub will do what he did to Gonzaga and Cro Cop.

Lightweight bout: Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza

I think Pearson is the real deal, and as badass as Barboza and those ridiculous leg kicks are concerned, I see Pearson taking this one. I could him landing a good counter shot anticipating the leg kick and stuning Barboza en route to a stoppage, late 1st round.

Light Heavyweight bout: Stanislav Nedkov vs. Luiz Cane

Cane wants to prove that he's still a legit fighter after some so-so performances. I think Nedkov will prove to be more difficult than he may expect, but as the first fight of the main card in your home country, I think Cane will be more motivated than we've seen him.

Preliminary Card: (Spike TV)
Lightweight bout: Thiago Tavares vs. Spencer Fisher

Spencer is on the decline in my mind, and Tavares is on the rise. If he can find a way to get it to the ground, which I feel he could do, his ground game is pretty underrated and I could see Tavares pulling out the sub.

Welterweight bout: Paulo Thiago vs. David Mitchell

At one point, Paulo Thiago was considered a possible contender to fight GSP given his well rounded ground game and striking. He's fallen off pretty heavily though, and I think a fight like this is a great chance for him to string a few together. He's underrated, but definitely hasn't shown much lately.

Preliminary Card: (Facebook?)
Bantamweight bout: Raphael Assunção vs. Johnny Eduardo
Middleweight bout: Rousimar Palhares vs. Dan Miller
Featherweight bout: Yuri Alcantara vs. Felipe Arantes
Bantamweight bout: Yves Jabouin vs. Ian Loveland

So do I.

Schaub isn't that good. They just keep giving him these past their prime legends who make him look really good. It's a smart move by Schaub to call these guys out and it makes it really easy for the UFC to promote him as a top contender because of the big names he has beaten but it's BS. All of the real top contenders in the HW division would beat him.

I agree that it is smart, but I think it's smart for totally different reasons. I think it's less about getting exposure and more about getting himself cage time by moving as slowly as possible up the ladder. He only had four fights before going on TUF, so it's very wise to get as many fights under his belt as he can before he faces top competition.

Speaking of TUF Heavyweights, I just found out Jon Madsen got released after his last fight. That's pretty bogus IMO. Sure, his first three fights were Fitchtastic, but then he had a nice TKO and then lost just one fight against a fellow DeathClutch guy. You'd think Dana would appreciate his willingness to fight a teammate and not cut him after one loss.

I found this to be very odd as well. Madsen's not the most exciting fighter but that seems pretty unfair to him.

I don't have a problem with the UFC cutting guys that are REALLY boring, and it's not like he beat any UFC quality fighters. It's not fair to do that after he fought a teammate though.

Yeah. Dana whines about teammates not fighting each other, then he cuts a guy whose goes 4-1 and his only loss is against a teammate. I usually like Dana, but that's pretty hypocritical of him.

I'm torn on the Madsen cut. On the surface it doesn't look fair, but he was absolutely dreadful in the Russow fight. I've been to 3 UFC's this year and that was the worst fight I have been there for, and it totally killed the atmosphere in Seattle. Add to his other boring fights and it shouldn't be too surprising.

Hopefully he can work on his finishing ability and come back a better fighter.

Middleweight Championship: Anderson Silva (c) vs. Yushin Okami - I don't see any problems for Silva here at all. I expect something crazy like a spinning back kick landing, and then a flurry of blows to finish off Okami in the third round for the TKO.

Light Heavyweight bout: Maurício "Shogun" Rua vs. Forrest Griffin - Was absolutely shocked when Griffin won the first one. This one will be a fairly easy win for Shogun, IMO. 1st round TKO.

Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub - I'd love for Nog to pull off a win here, but I can't pick it.
Lightweight bout: Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza - Two of my favorite fighters.
Light Heavyweight bout: Stanislav Nedkov vs. Luiz Cane - Not sure what the reach difference is, but I think Cane can pick him apart at range.

Lightweight bout: Thiago Tavares vs. Spencer Fisher
Welterweight bout: Paulo Thiago vs. David Mitchell
Bantamweight bout: Raphael Assunção vs. Johnny Eduardo
Middleweight bout: Rousimar Palhares vs. Dan Miller
Featherweight bout: Yuri Alcantara vs. Felipe Arantes
Bantamweight bout: Yves Jabouin vs. Ian Loveland
Welterweight bout: Erick Silva vs. Luis Ramos

Sonnen: UFC 134 trip to support Okami canceled due to sponsor intervention, police threat

Quote:
Chael Sonnen wanted to be in Yushin Okami's corner for UFC 134, and he still has a plane ticket to Rio de Janeiro.

It's Brazil that doesn't want him there.

Sonnen said a major sponsor of Okami's requested he not attend the pay-per-view event, which takes place Saturday at Rio's HSBC Arena.

A source with knowledge of the situation told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Praetorian, a Brazil-based MMA brand, threatened to pull the Japanese fighter's sponsorship if Sonnen attended.

"There's a line of people that want to kick his ass," the source said.
Quote:
"I only want to be there to help him," Sonnen said. "I don't need to see the show. I can watch the show on TV. I was going exclusively in support of Yushin, and frankly, it's been headed this way for a long time. It's been headed the direction of, 'Hey, this is becoming a distraction.'

"This fight isn't about me. I'm not involved. I'm here to lend you support. But I don't want things thrown at what will unintentionally be him while he's in the ring or we're going to the ring.

"This is serious business. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it's not my place to disturb it or shift any type of attention to me. This is his moment, his night, his time to be the world champ."
I knew this was gonna happen
