He's going to be a great hitter, but keep expectations reasonable for the 21-year old.
When I said trade him, I was joking BTW

This. Some of my buddies made him seem like the next Ty Cobb. Guy was hitting .288 in triple A.

He had a much better 2nd half though. 900+ OPS after the break.

I'm with you though, patience is a virtue. Montero has potential to be a very good hitter.

Really have no expectations for him, just hope he gets consistent at bats in September.

He had a slow start (which is the main reason for his .814 OPS) but during the second half of the season started to straight up rip through AAA (I think his OPS was near 1.000 give or take a few).

Nobody expects him to light the world on fire right out of the gate, only 8 players have slugged .500 or better in the last 50 years. But Montero is a real pure hitter, he knows how to hit the ball to all fields, that's what makes him special.

Well he has a long way to go to reach that level because he's below average right now. Cant catch a runner trying to steal if his life depended on it (3-26). That's as bad as it gets. His bat is 'meh'. IMO he doesnt have what it takes to be a starting catcher and back up catchers need to bring D.

It's been 4 hours and it's the 8th inning. Ridiculous.
