Most teams have their best juniors training with the mens team in the summer. When the season starts most juniors go to their junior teams. They might play few games with the men if there is injuries with the first team. If the juniors can make an impact, then they might get a regular spot in the first team.

This one should be stickied. It'd be nice to have some of our Finnish posters update on their progress.

Tomorrow (10th of August) is the first pre-season game against KooKoo, Kouvola (Tier 2). The next game is 12th of August against HIFK, Helsinki (an elite league team). So it's going to be a little busy. I'm going to see atleast the HIFK game in the beginning of the pre-season games. Here are all the pre-season games for JYP:
(We europeans mark the dates day before month.)

10.8 KooKoo-JYP, 5-4 (Tier 2)
12.8 JYP-HIFK, 4-0 (0-0, 3-0, 1-0) (Elite League Team or SM-Liiga team)
17.8 JYP-SaiPa, 4-1 (0-1, 1-0, 2-0)(SM-Liiga)
19.8 JYP-Lukko, 4-0 (1-0,2-0,1-0) (SM-Liiga)
14.8 Hermes-JYP 2-6 (0-1, 2-2, 0-3) (Tier 2) Played in Kuortane training center
1.9 KalPa - JYP 0-4 (0-3,0-0,0-1)(Tier 2)
2.9 Jokipojat-JYP, (Tier 2)
7.9 JYP-HPK, Pieksämäki (SM-Liiga)
10.9 JYP-Tappara, Jyväskylä (SM-Liiga)

*Between "( )" are the level of the opposing team.

I will find the TPS pre-season games later on.

Edit: The TPS Pre-season game schedule:
29.7 TPS - Lukko 0-2 (Pitsiturnaus, SM-Liiga)**
29.7 Ässät - TPS 1-1 (Pitsiturnaus, SM-Liiga)**
11.8 TPS - Tappara 2-3 (SM-Liiga)
13.8 TPS - SaiPa 4-5 (Marski Cup, SM-Liiga)
14.8 HIFK - TPS 1-2 (Marski Cup, SM-Liiga)
25.8 TPS - Djurgården 5 - 1 (2-0, 1-1, 2-0) (Mästercupen, Swedish Elite League)
26.8 HIFK - TPS 3-2(Mästercupen, SM-Liiga)
2.9 Lukko - TPS (SM-Liiga)

** "Lace tournament" in Rauma. Two ten minute periods per game

As far as I know, Korpikoski didn't play in the two pre-season games already played.

team usa is holding their world junior camp starting today and during the camp they will scrimmage against finland and sweden...korpikoski is listed on finland's roster.

so that explains the mystery of where he is...

That roster is over a month old. The federation's site has an updated one from last week at http://www.finhockey.fi/maajoukkueet...forks_usa_8-1/ . Korpikoski isn't going.

No problem and I thank you for the support. BTW, JYP's first pre-season game is under way and Jarkko Immonen has assisted a goal. He won the face off in the offensive zone and Jaakko Uhlbäck shot straight and scored.

Edit: The final score KooKoo-JYP 5-4 (1-2, 2-1, 2-1). Jarkko Immonen 0+1=1. I don't have the penalty summary but apparently JYP got alot of penalties including one 5+20. One report said that JYP played half of the game with pk teams so that should give you the idea of what kind of ref that game had... Of course I wasn't there, these are just what I've heard.

Edit2: Got the penalty summary. JYP got 11 x 2 min, 1 x 5 min, 1 x 20 min. That's total of 47 minutes for JYP in that game. Immonen's share was four minutes. KooKoo got 5 x 2 min.

Most likely with TPS A-juniors. I have to check it though but that will happen later. I have business to attend to.

TPS lost a pre-season game toTappara. Lauri Korpikoski scored the first goal of the game. He got a pass just in front of the net and used his backhand to score between the goalies legs. The goal was made on powerplay. His stats were 1+0=1 4 PIM.

No, that was the mens team. I only post the mens pre-season games. After those, I'll post the games were Jarkko or Lauri have played... Well, I'll post JYP games anyway even Jarkko won't play due to injury. Same goes to TPS if Lauri is in their roster and won't play due to injury.

ok thanks...some mentioned that he might be with the junior club already, so its good to hear that korpikoski still has a shot to stick with the mens team

Jarkko didn't do anything fancy. He seemed a bit tired but I guess he has been training hard. He scored a goal and was involved with another but he didn't get an assist point. He almost got in to fight as well. The linesman get between him and some HIFK player. I cannot remember who he was. Immonen was ready to throw a punch but quickly calmed down. Not very usual for Immonen. He is usually very calm man. All in all, a good game for JYP, a mediocore for Immonen considerinf this was the second pre-season game for JYP and first for HIFK.

HIFK's Kim Hirschovits also played in the game. As you know (I guess), Hirschovits rights are with the Rangers. He didn't do anything I remember. I tried to watch him also he was just so invisible. Didn't do much, no hits, no nice dekes, nothing. Of course I followed more Immonen and Ottawa's prospect Louhivaara and in the same time tried to enjoy the game.

Edit: Forgot the penalty summary. Immonen 2 minutes, Hirschovits 0 minutes.

Err... TPS will only afford two NHL players tops.... Likely to be Koivu and Salo or Kiprusoff.

So not much more competition there...

He'll likely start with the men's team as an extra forward, then get sent down after a couple of games to get match practice.

I just received a report from TPS' Marski Cup games. Apparently, Korpikoski played in the first line in the first game. He played in the second line at the second game. He didn't get any points from the two games TPS played in Marski Cup but he was impressive according to a TPS fan I've been in touch with. He created alot of scoring chances to his linemates who were unable to put the puck in to the net. His linemates were Kai Nurminen and Joni Lius in the first game. Korpikoski got one or two minor penalties in those two games combined.

TPS lost the first game to SaiPa 4-5 but won the second game against HIFK 2-1. HIFK's Kim Hirschovits passed the HIFk's only goal.
