Auction: Shane Doan

In hypothetical land Shane Doan agrees to waive his no trade clause at the deadline. What does your team offer?

a. Det - Valtteri Filppula + Marc-Louis Aubry + 3rd round pick in 2012

b. SJ - 1st Round 2012 + Justin Braun (D) + 2nd Prospect (Phoenix's choice of Thomas Greiss, McGinn, Ferriero, Mashinter)

The rest:

Canucks - Cory Schneider + 3rd (2014)

Pens - 1st (2012) + Dustin Jeffrey

Kings - Jonathan Bernier + 3rd (2012)

Habs - 1st (2012) + Atsvin

Canucks cant do that, unless Phoenix is fine with the Canucks 3rd round pick in 2014. We already traded our 3rd rounders for 2012 and 2013.

Montreal offer a 1st + avstin (7.0d prospect)

To the Op: You could include what Phoenix are looking for as well

Are you a PHO fans and Schneider is what your looking for?
Or are you a Van fan offering Schneider?

Another problem..we are not at the deadline yet

Doan would be a great addition, but as a rental for a couple of months, is he really worth a top goalie prospect?

I'm a Canucks fan offering Schneider. I think they want centers and goalies.

Fair enough,

Will you try to gauge the offer as if you are phoenix GM?

Having input from some Phoenix fan could be nice once you got some offers.

Doan is a game-breaker...
A playoff team that adds him going into the playoffs is a fav for the cup...

Woah, woah, woah! The Rangers may need a top-6 LW but that is complete overpayment.

I wouldnt move McIlrath alone for Doan. He is a 35 y/o on the last year of his contract.

That would be a deal I would make for a player like Iginla who is UNDER CONTRACT.

Would seem like a simialr type of trade happened about 5 years ago (Ryan Smyth to the Isles). A heart and sole single franchise fwd traded @ the Deadline. Though Smyth was a PPG player when he was traded.

Smyth's price was two prospects and a 1st.

Similar. Although Doan is older and arguably a worse player than Smyth when he was traded. (Obviously Smyth isn't good now but back then he was)

I'm going to wait for a Yotes fan before I update the original post again. Too many trades and I'm not sure what they are looking for.

The Yotes are deep at defense and wing. Two of our goalie prospects are trying out for the Canadian WJC team, including Visentin who was the goalie last year. Both he and Domingue still have a ways to develop and aren't exactly sure things, but there's a sense that Smith was signed to a two year deal as a patch rather than a long term solution in goal. These offers of Schneider and Bernier are assuming that Smith will be a failure despite Tippett's defense-first system leading the past two Yotes squads to the playoffs even when they didn't look like playoff clubs on paper. I rather doubt that the Yotes will be so far out of the hunt come deadline time that they'll consider asking Doan to waive.

The need for the Yotes is centers, both NHL ready and prospects. Goaltending is secondary.
