Brad Brown Signed

I just read this on www.Sabrefan.com, that Brad Brown signed for $700,000.00 (a pay cut of 50,000). They said that it could be for incentives, or for a longer term deal.

Three more to go.

BTW. has anybody heard about Biron's meeting?

He probably just signed his qualifying offer. $700K is the minimum qualifying offer for players 26 years old or older or they're free to sign anywhere. I'd imagine that a good chunk of the $750K he was reported to have made last season was a roster bonus rather than base salary. His base salary was probably "only" $550-600K.

I would hope that the Sabres are scouring the Group II list to see if there's any guys in that 26 year old or older group who were qualified less than $700K. They can be signed without any compensation. Joel Bouchard is probably in that group.

The Sabres official website needs to take it's cue from the Buffalo Bills. When the Bills sign a player they don't waste any time posting the news.

hey, that covers a 12th of Biron's raise...

Very fair number for Brown even if he's only a 50 game a season player. For this team he's a very valuable 50 game a season player.

He has a one-way deal now, his previous deal was a two-way deal. I don't see the big deal because I don't think he'd make it through waivers anyways if we sent him down, and why would we send him down?

as mediocre as brown is, he's physical, aggressive, and RH
to get something serviceable that the blueline sorely lacked for 700K is fantastic

IMO, this is just another place they cut corners organizationally. They probably have a part-timer that updates the site, based on the lack of info.
