I feel we have the potential for a lot of 20+ scorers..we are big and tough Cousins could outscore the departed Cat(which he did last year)
Would think guys like Morbeck are due for a breakout yer (Concussions last Year ..who didn't on our team) I am not saying we have a team like Windsor did a few years ago..i just think it is a team that could surprise a lot of people..
Murray was terriific also last year and could cause a trade for Perugini
We actually could have 9 20 goal scorers on this team
Fair enough.
Before this I understood your post as the Greyhounds are going for it this year. I think there will be some improvement but i don't think they're quite a contender yet.
It really is upsetting that everyone has Erie either finishing 8th or below..or mabye 7th
Ok that's what looks like now but you wait and see...I think Crisp and Marchese are both ready to take a huge leap and put up 60+ points....why because they almost are certain to play on top 2 lines and both have the talent..as long as they improved in the offseason in certain areas.
Not really to concerned with McDonnel/Cairns/Harper/McGuire/Evans playing on the bottom 2
Are Defense is shaky but you never know how steps up as a rookie (Sean Power/Patrick Murphy) mabye another guy comes in on defense with a trade..or past players drafted in previous drafts such as Nathan Glass (2010)
And I would not be shocked if Festerani has gotten better with bore poise and confidence and if not we have a solid guy in Teichmann
One of these guys will have a good to great 3rd year..Mark my words
With that at least we'll finish ahead of Windsor..
For the battle I anticipated for the last playoff spot in the West it will come down to who takes the season series between the Spits and Hounds. Both clubs face an uphill fight in a very difficult division. As of now Windsor has more overall talent but after the trade deadline not sure what the line ups will look like.
I'm interested to see if this season the East will compete with or surpass the West from top to bottom (excluding the Fronts).
The only thing I'd argue, and call it bias if you want, is saying Wedgewood and Mahalak are the best duo in the league. When they're on their game, I'd put Campbell and Cullen right with them on any given night.
Every young team can be said to have a good season if the young players make the jump but I really only see a couple young players on the team stepping up and taking on larger roles. AA is one and Harrington is the other. Tinordi played like crap last year so he will be under the gun to play well and chip in a little bit. Houser is a good goalie but I dont see much behind him if he gets injured or struggles and there are better goalies in the Midwest division (Binnington and Gibson). Their biggest 3 weapons or Vladdy, Griffith and Knight who all played a little inconsistently last year and will have to be studs this year. I still think Maata will take some time to get acclimated and accustom with the league and the style of play.
Im not saying they will finish out of playoffs but I dont think they are a lock in winning the division just yet
Why? Because he predicted your Hounds to miss the playoffs?
Brock's been a round for a long time and he has a better feel for the individual teams than you do.
To add to your post, it is always a pleasure to read an analysis that is well thought out with facts behind the prediction. We all know that one key injury, somebody performing better than expected, a player sticking in the NHL that wasn't supposed to, all can drastically change the outcome of a season.
Someone once predicted all the computers would stop during Y2K.. that became pretty popular... or what about the world ending because of an ancient calendar... lot of believers there. From watching training camp this year, this is going to be a solid team. When in reality we are going to have Elsner and Schumacher playing on our 3rd line, we are going to be fine. Watching Cousins in pre-season so far, I would bet he is closer to 100 points this year then Catenacci will be.

Sorry you don't know anything about me ..how long i have been around, what i do for a living, if i work in the Ohl or have , you just don't like my posts. Which is your prerogative .
Anyone who peruses the Hounds roster and thinks they will not make the playoffs is certainly not a credible source ..i read some ludic rous ohl predictions in the hockey news and other publications..they are good at picking stacked teams..not speculating on other teams..
p.s. in case anyone hasn't noticed we are sendin 11 players to NHL camps someone up there likes us

Reason: add a footnote
I remember posters criticizing Brock over his picking the Soo to finish in the bottom of the standings last year. It sounds alot like what is being saying now.
Brock had it right, and I dont remember any of those posters going back and saying he was right and they where wrong.
Just be careful mixing your emotions of being a fan with those who can look at things without bias.

Vastly underrated the Plymouth Whalers and overrated the London Knights. But no one is perfect.
And yes, it's true, I had the Hounds on the playoff bubble last year and took some flak for it. I ended up being right on that front (and wrong on the Plymouth Whalers who I disputed with a reader on my blog). You win some, you lose some. I don't claim to be Ms. Cleo.
I don't hate the Hounds or wish them any ill will. I just call it like I see it. I admit in the write up that I think Windsor, Owen Sound, Erie, and the Soo will likely be battling for the mid to bottom range playoff spots in the West and any one could emerge. I just think that of those teams, the Soo seem the most likely to struggle due to a lack of a true offensive identity and star, and unproven goaltending. Not to mention that the West division is going to be fantastic this year with possibly the three best Western Conference teams on paper in the division, Plymouth, Saginaw, and Sarnia.
Just one man's opinion and you very well could be right. I suppose we'll see come next March.
I said its hard for most to look at things objectively.
Check out Brocks 2010-2011 Predictions where he talked to the media. They picked the Soo to pick 7th. The fans then complianed of bias and disrespect.
Those people along with Brock where correct. No one went back and acknowledged it, despite them being correct.
Its hard for fans to not be fans.
I also recall that being the case. It's an annual thing in Greyhound country. They get drunk on the same koolaid the Detroit Lions serve to their loyal fans. Then the real games start.....
Now if people predicted that the Sting will be in tough not to make the playoffs again this season, the good folk in Sarnia would be validated in saying that's bs. Anyone the least bit objective can see the Sting will be a powerhouse this season. Much like they can see the Hounds will be battling it out for the last playoff spot or two.

Well you've certainly taken yourself out of the realm of being anywhere objective

I didn't think you had anything againest the Soo but looking at your predictions from last year you were no where near right on who would win and way off on most picks..but that is the fun of it all and i am sure hope you are wrong again this year

With where Brock has Barrie this year, I hope he's off too. Still, he puts some reasonable data and effort behind his predictions and has the guts to publish them too...

Cheers,

Well if we each got a dollar for every right one...who would have won the most money??

nothing personal
I always find it amusing when someone says "you were nowhere right on who would win and way off on most picks, but that's the fun of it all and...nothing personal."
Could you be any less subtle about being irritated?
