doesn't a qualifying part of being a "rival" have to be "we beat them in the playoffs" ?
Anaheim was my next choice, but i figured we didnt really care about them until this season, so they're kinda meh as a rival. Plus I figured it didn't really matter since Detroit will win in a landslide, I would think.
Detroit. They're OUR rivals, but it isn't reciprocal...yet. We'll have to beat them in the playoffs a couple of times, preferably in the conference championship or Stanley Cup round.
Ever since Jiri Fischer I haven't hated them though. That experience changed the dynamics.
I think I'm obligated to recuse myself from this one. Although if it's okay by y'all, I think our teams can always agree on hating Detroit.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Imaginary rivalry . I did a poll on the Detroit board and 80%+ people didn't see Nashville as a rival.
It's like saying I love you without the woman saying it back...

I do consider Detroit a rival, but it's a local fan rivalry, so to speak. The rivalry exists because of the Northern transplants here in TN and the local Pred fans. So no, it's not an on ice rivalry developed from playoff hockey, but you can't tell me there isn't something in the air when we play Detroit in Nashville. People are too strict with the term.
Detroit... I arrived in Michigan for vacation today, first guy I talked to says "Wow a Preds fan? I didn't think they existed", followed by two or three more jabs at our fanbase.
I don't know if I can really pick one in particular right now...
I personally hate all of our divisional opponents. I don't like a single one and get a bit of extra satisfaction with every victory over them....
I don't like Anaheim, but that's a newer one after our playoff series...
Then there's San Jose. Our teams truly hate each other. Doesn't matter if the fan rivalry is there yet or not, but the games are always hard fought and quite feisty.
Wings fan here ...I come in peace. I moved from Michigan to Kentucky about 2 years ago. I have came to have a deep respect for the Preds . Not only do you have a hell of a team on a shoestring budget ( that's pretty amazing IMO) but the preds give me a chance to see a ton of games on fsn south . I really enjoy Crispy and Weber's style of calling a game and love to see the fanbase you have made doing so well. I also catch Columbus games on fsn Ohio ...but fu## all things Ohio lol. Anyway I think that if we stay in the same division we could potentially build a real rivalry. Especially if we have a nice long playoff series atleast from the way some of my admittedly hockey snob brethren see things but from your point of view we are easily your top rival with the bleakhawks as runner up.
Anyway good luck on the upcoming season and. GO WINGS!!!! LOL

It's okay. We love* you too.
*: please note - as this is an Ohioan speaking to one from that state up north, in this context bringing up "love" designates a commitment to not necessarily resume and/or escalate hostilities in the standard accepted manner at the first available opportunity - for example, I may thereby choose to refrain from running you over with my car the next moment I see you.
No, we aren't their biggest rival...not even close.
But I don't think anyone else is in the hunt for us right now. Yes...there are a lot of Western teams we hate at this point (Chicago, Vancouver, San Jose, namely)...but in the end, there's nothing more than we hate to see than red in our arena. Otherwise we wouldn't have those awesome chants when we play the Red Wings (Blitzkrieg Bop = Ay Oh, Wings Blow!; Chicken dance = The Red Wings Suck! etc.)
With making the playoffs consistently, though, we have more heated bouts than ever before with our Western Conference brethren.
