yanic perault

is yanic perault available or what? nyr should make a pitch for the guy. he is a good pp specialist and good all around player, i dont think he is that old yet, and can put up good numbers.what would it take to get him ???

a mid level prospect or maybe like 4th or 5th rounder?

because in all honesty nyr will be in some situtaion if we plan on going with lundmark and moore for our centers because thats all we have now, besides holik. stals in the system but i doubt he will be here anytime soon , immonen in europe still so what does nyr do??

Not a big fan of Yanic. He's already 33, and he's at best a 3rd line center, and a face off specialist. I watched many Montreal games last season and he just looked lost a lot of the time. In the playoffs, there were games where you would only see him on the ice to take the draw and go off right away. He didn't play much.

He made WAY too much money last season, so unless he's ready to take a huge pay cut, no one is gonna sign him.

i'm a habs fan and trust me, you guys don't want yannick perrault. he's a decent scorer who has a great wrist shot, and he's been the best faceoff guy for the past few years, but he's not an effective player. he's horrible defensively (i mean absolutely horrible), he's not at all physical, he's got NO character, and he's got no playmaking abilities.

he's really a tough player to fit into a lineup because he has such a strange mix of pros and cons. basically, he can't play on the third and fourth line because of his lack of defense, energy, and grit. he can't play on the first line because he lacks skill. the only place for him is 2nd line center, but he'd be one of the worst second line centers in the league - he wouldn't make his wingers better, and they would have to create offense for him and cover for him defensively.

long story short, you guys can do a lot better

Well I don't think Krog will ever add much in the way of offence, or be any better than a fourth line career wise, but he is a cheaper more unassuming version of Perreault. Perreault's main skill is his face-off ability, Krog gives you that as well as being a hard worker and more physical guy than Yanic. Overall if you are looking at upgrading your role players in that department Krog would be a nice compromise.
