If I put this in the wrong place or failed to see a similar question, my apologies, but I was just wondering...

Is Stefan Elliot expected to make the team this year, or spend a year in Lake Erie? Or is it up in the air and entirely up to his camp? Just curious, with his style of play he could put up very high point totals this year should he be with the big club...

considering we have a billion depth defensemen, it depends on camp

that said: I'd expect him to start in Erie next year, though he'll be in the NHL at some point (if only as a callup)

OK, thanks! Trying to decide if he's worth a look in my dynasty league...

Kind of odd, but the QMJHL season started.

ROOKIE CAMP NOTE: Joey Hishon has not been cleared and is not participating in on-ice activities.

What's up with The Hish?
Didn't notice he was injured again?

Found something there. Still concussion issues. Didn't know this was still on the board for him.

Hishon, who turns 20 next month, was one of the best players in junior hockey last season. But he hasn't been able to train this summer.
Damn. This sucks.

Sadly I still think Joey is a couple of months away from playing hockey again.... Incredibly sad. He was in the stands for the Attack's home opener last night apparently so I think that tells you how close he is to being ready...

As someone on the NOOF mentioned I believe, this situation is very reminiscent of Cody Hodgson. Hope Joey gets better soon.

Is there a date for when a player turns 21 making them not eligible for the OHL? I couldn't find a clear answer anyway on a rough search. Is it the start of the season?

I just realized Hishon is only 19 and turns 20 on October 20th. If the cutoff is the start of the season, does this mean he's still eligible for junior next year too?

No this would be his overage year. The rule of thumb I use is birth year. So underages are 1995 players and overages are 1991 players this season.

Got it. So it's based on birth year not birthdate. If the rumors that he'd been sent down were true, I thought there would be the off chance that he could be sent down next year as well if his concussion was affecting his confidence/game, and play 6 season in junior. That'd be crazy.

I think now that he got his feet wet a little bit, he's going to go crazy.

As someone mentioned either earlier in here, or in another thread. Bring on the third straight D-man of the Year award.

Nermark. Good news is that he has played every SEL game. Bad news is that he is playing on the fourth line (apart from one game where it seems he played defense and got 3 minutes ice time). He has zero goals, zero assists, 0 +/- and about 8 minutes a game.

That doesn't really sound like good news at all. 8 minutes of ice time isn't enough to develop.

Nermark is going to get stalled in his development in Linkoping, which is a real shame considering his talents, his defensive instincts are great for his age and he doesn't have hands made out of stone. His biggest issue is goalscoring and I can't see it improvimg playing 8mins a game.

Nermark will get bumped down to the U20 team in a few weeks. Linkoping has loaned a few foreign players abroad for the first month of the season to dodge some tax hits on their salaries. When they come back, the team will be deep enough to assigned Nermark to juniors.

Siemens hasn't officially been named the 'C' yet. The announcement is actually happening tomorrow morning.

I'm expecting a dominant season out of Siemens. It's exciting to have such a talented prospect in our system.

I hope he makes us proud

I like being able to change my favorite teams depending on who the players are ..

2011-12 I'll be rolling with these selections

WHL: Saskatoon Blades, Portland Winterhawks
OHL: Sarnia Sting, Barrie Colts
QMJHL: Halifax Mooseheads, Rimouski Oceanic

Sarnia and Rimouski are ACTUAL favorite teams of mine so I always cheer for them. I like Siemens, Rattie, excited for Ekblad, and I love Ciampini/MacKinnon/Frk on Halifax.

Bandwagoner

I just love the way Duncan plays, he's going to be really good player for Avs and he's my 3rd favourite prospect (1st is Granlund and 2nd is Elliot).

I like Saskatoon in the WHL, Kitchener in the OHL and Quebec Remparts (I was ecstatic when they got Grigorenko) in the QMJHL.

Some interesting names in the Lake Erie camp.

James Reid: Played for Spokane and imo is a solid goaler and I thought had a fantastic career in the dub.
Hugh Jessman: Only player for the beast draft to be a career AHLer.
