Nice to see both Elliott and Barrie putting up some points in the AHL. Didn't Shattenkirk go scoreless in the AHL last year?

Yes. He played around 8-11 games, went pointless and then turned beast in the NHL.

Joakim Nermark has played 13 games for Linköping and the only thing he has accomplished so far is 2 PIM. Looks like Hlinka was playing for them as well until he was loaned out to a Czech team.

Apologies if it's already been said, but how have Pickard and Konowalchuk been faring in Seattle?

They're a fun team to watch but there's growing pains for sure. I don't even know there record off hand, but that roster needed a major overhaul so I doubt we see them have much success this season.

They do have a number of intriguing prospects though.

being .500 would be great for that team. It doesn't seem they've gotten better since last year. I don't know if they can make the playoffs, but they're for sure a bubble team imo.

Thanks. I figured they were still in fairly bad shape since, well, there was obviously a coaching vacancy this offseason, but I imagine our top goalie prospect is in good hands.

Just thought I would point this out.

2010 1st rounder Emerson Etem has 19 goals this season in 15 WHL games. He was picked by the Ducks.

He was also the guy I wanted the Avs to pick, instead they went with Joey Hishon.

You, me, and Chewey really wanted him, but you gotta admit-Avs are AMAZING at taking concussion type of players.

Easy to nitpick when one is concussed and the other is playing in a junior league.

At least give Hishon credit for what he did last year in leading the entire CHL in points per game and being the co-leading scorer in the OHL playoffs, instead of implying he's been worthless since being drafted. But then I guess you wouldn't be able to pat yourself on the back so hard.

I never said anything to downplay what Hishon has done. I'm simply pointing out that I wanted Etem and he has been a man possessed.

Why the hell you so defensive? Hah

I'm not defensive. You like Etem, that's fine. You wanted the Avs to take him, that's also fine. But it's clear you have an agenda here, highlighted by that retarded #toldyaso stuff after saying "...instead they went with Joey Hishon." There are some insinuations behind your words, and it's easier to do because one player is playing and the other is injured. All the same it would have been easy to say Hishon leads the CHL in PPG #notareach, last year.

Patterson now with 4 shutouts in 7 games so far this season. 5 in 8 games if you count their exhibition game. 1.74 GAA and .939 SV%. What a start is having.

I really like where the Avs stand right now as far as goalie prospects are concerned with Patterson, Pickard and Aitto. Desjardins also started his season debut with a shutout as well. Millan is not doing too bad also.

In terms of the Etem stuff, why is it in here? I want to read about Avs prospects in the prospects thread, I don't want to read about who arm chair GM's would have taken. There are other threads for that I would guess.

I actually came to whine about Stoa's utter failure and to say I wish Hishon was playing so we could be following him, and to say I am loving what Barrie is doing early in the AHL.

Lot's of nice D options seem to be in place, makes me wonder what ones might become trade chips. That too is for another thread though

I wish the Avs had one more solid power forward prospect closer to NHL ready. So, in that sense I can agree with Etem despite me not liking it being in this thread. I don't trust Jones very much and some depth for the future would be nice.

Are there any power forward prospects in the system that are doing well out there? I don't get to see any of these guys play, just read fluff and stats online. Anyone able to watch some of these guys?

Cheers

Good post. Sick and tired of all the "I told you so" bull**** on these boards. People make bold claims, and then if it doesn't turn out nobody remembers, if it does they come around to rub it in your face like they're some sort of a hockey messiah.

Etem can score all he wants in the juniors, doesn't really mean jack. You'd think if he was such a beast he would have gotten a few games in the NHL this year at least. Probably too one dimensional.

Man people are touchy on here. No wonder I don't visit these parts much anymore.

What am I supposed to do? Start a whole new thread to talk about Etem?

It's a prospect-related topic and directly related to Hishon because I seem to remember about 80 percent of the board wanted us to take Etem at the time the 2010 draft rolled around.

Sorry for thinking it was interesting to look back on such a topic and see what's happening with the players involved in those discussions.

RS - I don't post much here, but I totally agree with you. I was fully on board the Etem train and just about threw my beer at the TV when they announced Hishon. I don't think I'd been that disappointed with a Avs/Nords pick since the year they wasted not one but two first rounders on Belak and Kealty ('94 I think).

I like Hishon and if helathy I think he can be a productive player in the NHL, but the thought of Etem's speed and goal scoring alongside Duchene was a tantalizing thought....

Hishon outscored Etem the year after their draft and was the leading scorer in the OHL playoffs.

I don't know exactly what you think is being proved currently. That uninjured 19 year old WHL players outscore concussed players?
